Go Pro App
About 3 weeks ago BMW announced that the Go Pro App was now part of Connected Drive if you have a 2012 or newer BMW with BMW Apps and a Go Pro 3+ Wi-Fi enabled camera. Even though I have the BMW App option on my M3, I didn't even try this since its obviously not a 2012 or newer, AND, I have the older Go Pro 3 Black Edition. Well today, I was a little board and decided to try it and it works. Has anyone else tried this?

No, but I can't see any video while car is in motion. In all honesty, I would only use the app to start, stop and power on/off the camera anyway. I still need to spend some time playing with it to see just what it can and cannot do, but was just kind of amazed since it was an older camera and car than the release said would work.

Tested fine for me with a Black 3. Unable to see video preview, but that's ok with me. Starting and stopping is all I need as the camera is already framed before using the app in the car.

I don't think our idrive have the processing power to stream live video through the gopro. I believe the NBT model I drives do so.

It doesn't have to be a GoPro 3+. It needs a GoPro with WiFi... so I have a GoPro Hero 2 and a WiFi BacPac -- works just fine. Tried it today.
So, a few notes: Before you even get close to your BMW (equipped with Connected Drive), you need to have the GoPro camera functioning with the GoPro app. When that's done, set your GoPro on whatever mount you want, and use the GoPro app "preview" to observe and adjust the camera-view. Also, while there, make any settings adjustments (i.e. "flip", etc.) When the GoPro camera is where you want it, then snap-in or connect the iPhone to the BMW. Give it a moment, and then the "Connected Drive" menu will show the GoPro on-board connectivity. The GoPro app will lose the normal screens and you'll get a colorful GoPro logo displayed on the iPhone. I did not see any option for playback via ConnectedDrive, whether in "P" or "N" whatever. But so what. Haven't tried the four pre-sets yet that appear on my menu...looks interesting. Just noticed that according to other websites, there will be six pre-sets. But I only see four. Hmmmm. - V .
