Arrow M3 options list (M3 information bulletin)... (new detailed info from S. Africa)

The South African Product Information Bulletin (LINK HERE) provides a very in depth description of each of the M3's options.

Some interesting points:

1) in addition to the M-Drive option, there will also be an Active Steering Option (many thought this wouldn't be offered)

2) Comfort Access provides keyless engine start

3) Professional Navigation system provides an 8.8 screen and a separate players for dvd and cd, while the Business navigation system provides a smaller screen and only a dvd player for the map dvd. (or so it seems to be implied)

4) Rear sun shade ("rear screen roller blind") comes standard

5) I-drive is not standard equpiment (Radio BMW Professional is) which means that many M specific options (such as M-drive configuration) won't be available unless you purchase I-drive

That's cool but it doesn't really tell us what options will be in the US (not that you are saying it will).

Just like comfort access on the regular 3 series, right?

Probably won't get the Business Navigation here in the US, just like for non-M 3 series.

Maybe, but its likely it would still be configurable through the standard non-I Drive computer (just like DRLs, locks, units of measure, etc. is on regular 3 series).

no. CA does not come with keyless ignition (at least not in the US).

OK, I guess I don't know what you mean then. When I get in my wife's car (with CA) I push in the clutch and hit the start button. The key stays in my pocket.

So what's going to be different on the M3?

You can't get M Drive alone; you must purchase the "M Dynamic Package" to get it. That package includes Navigation System Professional, which in turn includes I-drive

When I test drove a 335i the key never left my pocket... I am not sure what you are talking about?

Maybe he read "keyless ignition" and was thinking "remote start"? Just a guess.

Thanks for the link.

It is funny -- if you look at section 3.2, there is an illustration comparing the weight distribution of a car with "centre of gravity" towards the front with the wieght distribution of the M3. The car with the "bad" weight distribution looks suspiciously like the new Audi coupe! Coincidence? I don't think so!

Nice find

Finally some new information, a few new low-res pics, etc. As we knew we will all get a bit optioned to death. Kudos to those of you who will make BMWs profit margin as low as possible by using dilligent restraint and getting a car with few to no options!

Base price calculation based on SA to US M5 price (the highest ratio) put the US price base price at $56,240! Not too bad and right in line with the 55-60 predictions we have all been making.

Active Steering must be a mistake, it has never been mentioned before. Or is it SA exclusive?

Best regards, south

Man I can't count how many times I have had to correct this misperception. YOU CAN NOT CONVERT PRICE IN A CURRNECY TO ANOTHER CURRENCY TO GET THE PRICE OF THAT ITEM IN ANOTHER COUNTRY. See my post #12 above, works out to be about $56k with a reasonable conversion method.

Going with Swamp2's conversion percentage I came up with a list of option pricing for USD.
Some look close. Would like to see Full Leather.

Extended Leather $2439

19in Wheels $1497

Comfort Access $453

EDC $1540

Heated Seats $282

Nav Prof $1703

Logic 7 $333

M Dynamic Package $4707
-EDC
-M Drive
-Backreast Adj
-Nav Pro

Another interesting bit from that article about the engine. It states "The engine however offers significantly more power, as well as lower fuel consumption".
This states we should see better MPG's.

Correct, that figure is actually to low, because on average it seems that for the same job here we get paid about half of what the same job in the US pays, so not only is the car almost twice as expensive, but we earn almost half as much ( not that im earning anything right now, BMW hello )

anyone notice on page 5 there's a picture of a car with 'bad center of gravity'...doesn't that car remind you of another german car manufacturer? looks like bmw is sizing up the competition already
