I'd take it over a M4, and pocket the $20k to mod it to 700 hp+ if I wanted. The ATS-V will be a beast. If it performs like a Mustang 302/Camaro yet has five seats and is quite easy to DD, I think we could be looking at an M3 killer.

Looks like everyone will be leaving BMW and the M3/4 in the dust this next generation.

Don't be so sure. They are definitely trying to increase their association with racing by competing in World Challenge. At one of my recent track events someone was actually running what I think was an old World Challenge racecar that looked pretty bad ass. The CTS-V has always been a little big/heavy to make a decent track car, but with cadillac's weight focus recently, an ats-v might be credible. I still can't quite get over the looks of the new caddys though to think that I'd ever seriously consider buying one.

I have seen cts-v twice on the track and destroyed them both with my 135i

The one problem with this statement is that a stock ATS-V does not yet exist.

Obviously, everything is speculation, but I have high expectations for this car.

I saw a CTS-V at an HPDE at Autobahn Country Club. First lap of first session of the day, he did a 720 off the track (right in front of me), and somehow managed to break a control arm.

Had to be towed away. Real shame too because I wanted to see how it performed. That was the only time I've ever seen a Cadillac at a trackday.

Could be, for more than one lap would be the question.
Now you're just being ridiculous.

No one cares about consistent lapping. Bench racing is all about how fast a pro driver can take a car around a track for one hot lap.

These new caddies are not going to be for grandmas and grandpas. GM is doing a better job attracting the younger crowd.

I've seen a couple CTS-V at the Glen, as well as their sister cars, Camaros and the old G8.

It's a heavy yet capable car. Like anything else just depends on what you are willing to sacrafice. Any really heavy car is going to be tough on consumables, but I would expect rotors for a GM to cost a bit less than those for a BMW.

will be interesting if its lighter in weight, say under 3500 lbs

the new gen magnetic ride suspension is a specatuclar piece of engineering, and could make the caddy tough to beat on the track if its done right

ill be watching. but the styling is always tough for me to swallow when it comes to cadillac
