Mosport track days & car rental
I want to give a birthday gift to a friend - a track day on Mosport with an instructor. I am debating between letting him use my car (want to finish off old tires ) or renting a Porsche (his favorite brand). He would definitely need an instructor, as it will be his first time.
Any schools in mid-August - September timeframe I could sign him up for? I'd take him to the Trillium school in mid-September with my car, but there are two problems with that - the wait is too long, and I signed up as well (sharing car may be a problem). Also, any ideas as for a rental? |

The BMW club was just there this last Monday/Tuesday. It's not looking good for Mid August. However if you're willing to drive to the Glen there are plenty of opportunities in August.
Here's the schedule posted on the mosport website. http://www.mosport.com/2010/full-sched.pdf

Here is where you go for rental cars whom are located right at the track.call Blaise and he will set you up according to your budget.
http://www.gatewayracinginc.com/rentals/ There are lots of open lapping days that you could attend according to the schedule. Has he ever been to the track before or does he also need instruction? If so the other idea might be the Bridgestone school which uses Formula 2000 cars at the DDT. http://www.race2000.com/ Last edited by Gearhead999s; 07-30-2010 at 07:42 AM.. |

He is a novice, so instruction would be necessary. I will consider going to Glen - looks like the best option. Bridgestone school is an awesome idea, but I think giving him a chance to see what a road car can do on a track will be more effective in dragging him to the dark side.

If you're interested in the Glen, check out http://www.motorsportreg.com/ for dates. I think I'm going to the 25-26 Aug at the Glen.
