Yeah, your squeaking noise comes probably from the axle wear (I heard this before)
You can give it a shot with WD40 ,sometimes this can help but I think it sounds too dry and this means probably a replacement .

When was the last time you replaced the belts, pulleys and tensioner?

Wow how many miles do you have? Sounds like you're on borrowed time. It's either your belt or the ball bearings in one of the pulleys that's making that noise. You should replace all of the belts, tensioner and pulleys every 60K-100K miles.

I would recommend using realoem.com for reference to figure out which parts you need to replace. It will give you the part # too. I would stay with well know brands. Don't go cheap with parts (think ebay junk made in china) it will never payoff in the end.

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/part...2-BMW-M3&mg=11

Here is the diagrams of the parts you'll need.

I forgot to add if you haven't replaced your cooling system and you're over/close to 100K replace those too. You don't want you thermostat/water pump to fail and overheat the engine.

The water pump propellers on these engines are fucking plastic just like all bmws. They are a time bomb waiting to shatter to pieces!! I would go with an aftermarket WP with metal propellers like this one

When I had my E36 M3 people were going nuts changing out the plastic impellers to metal only to find the metal shattered even faster and then went back to plastic. Turner's said $621 for 3 pulleys and 2 belts. Is this what I need?

Yes it's on this page from Turner => https://www.turnermotorsport.com/BMW...-belts-v-belts

I don't see how a metal propeller can shatter but I agree ALL WPs will fail eventually. As long as you replace the stock WP every 60K or so you should be good.
