not a big fan at all on the exterior, the e90 in my opinion did not stand out in the crowd and this one sure doesn't, I thought it was a 5 series when I first saw it in person not much smaller than the 5 series. The interior design is better than the e90; again just my opinion. I hope the extra buldge on M3/4 make a drastic improvement with the exterior looks but I still don't like the front end treatment it almost looks like BMW attached the nose on last minute, just looks out of place and disrupts the overall flow of the vehicle, the side and rear is pretty close to the e90 so nothing to complain about there.

You are right.. it does look like a mini 5 series, particularly from the back.

The interior has some weird lines for me, but I'm really liking the storage cubby hole on the left side of the steering wheel. My Jaguar had that too!

The hood line ruins the front of the car. I don't like it, enough to make me buy a c63 instead if I was buying a sedan

I think the front end design has to do with the car being safer when it hit a person at low speed. Many car manufacturers will follow suit next year.
