1/4 Mile fun. 11.90 sec w/o SC

So, to spice things up a bit and try something different from track I signed up for a drag strip event in Famoso, CA.

It was Import Faceoff event and it was packed with people and their insanely loud civics and such. They were clearly given a priority and in the whole day our Test and Tune group did only 3 runs. WTF.

Despite my first time at this type event, I managed to pull off 11.90 run on my last and final 3rd run. I though it was pretty decent, but I still think there is room to make it quicker. My 0-60 MPH time was 4.5 sec which is far more than 4 seconds flat I could do not too long ago on the street..

Setup:
MS pulleys and MS Stage 2 intake
Full Akra Evo
Evolve Tune
Hankook RS3

- No LC, it just doesn't work for shit for me. Lots of tire spinning, but it seems like the car doesn't upshift from the second gear. It just sucks, I can't figure it out
- DSC off
- Full throttle burn out in first two gears
- S5 mode
- Sport Plus
- I ran 31 psi from my normal street 36 cold, but I think it didn't help any

Temperature was 50F, elevation 300 ft, dry

Here is the video and some pics

A 1.44s 60' on street tires! I think their timing system malfunctioned.

How were you able to hit a 1.44 60ft without LC or slicks? Hm...I agree with the above, something is up with that timing system

I think 1/4 mile is OK, but breakdown for 60' and R/T is not. When I was at the start, after staging the car, usually yellow lights come on one by one and then green. This time all 3 came on at the same time and then green. I am not sure what that meant

Yes but your mph at 118 is still off the hook Drew!

The 60 ft. time is not right, drag cars with slicks barely pull off a 1.44 60 ft. time. Its a shame really wanted to see what your 60ft. time was.

Love Famosa race way, ran a 13.08 @108 mph in my 01 M3 there. For those of you who don't know its right outside of Bakersfield.

It is is called a "pro-tree".....mainly used for full on drag cars such as rail cars, pro-comp, funny cars, etc.

Normal street cars would use a "full-tree", which has the yellow's come on one at a time.

Ha! Now I have a reason to go again, to get the real 60' time and break 11.88

My car did 398 WHP (STD) on pump gas at EAS. I ran Californian 91 octane pump gas with octane booster additive (forgot its name, I got it from Tom @ EAS). My estimate that I was running ~98 octane, so the car for sure pulled full 400 WHP

Clearly it only affected your Reaction Time!!! Which makes no difference on your sweet 1/4 mile time!

Haha. The instinct took over, I didn't loose any time, but my brain kept having doubts till the very end of the strip.

The dude next to me was all mad after the run, three lights startled him big time as you can see. LOL!

and yeah, according to their print out I sat there for 1.5 seconds. LOL

Nice runs! 60 ft timing is off and your 1/4 time might be off to. If you want to be competitive you need 3 things...drag radials, linelock and launch control. Stay focused, work on your 60ft, race the clock not the other car and most importantly show up with a properly setup car and tire psi! Go for it !!!

Something does not add up looking at your slips.

It is almost as if you had a roll before hitting the start timing lights. This could explain the improbable 30' time. Could also explain how the 330' 1000', 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile and trap speeds are so much better on that run. Also look at the reaction time, the longer reaction time could also imply a roll. (However, the slower reaction time could also be explained by your surprise with the different tree lighting...)

Further, the posting on your data logger seems to also indicate something is not right. I don't know if the 0-60 time you are posting is from the same run as the recorded 11.9 1/4 mile. If it is, it does not add up. 4.5 seconds to travel 214 feet. Then, as per your slip, 4.8 seconds to travel 330 feet. This means you traveled 116 feet in 0.34 seconds, this is around 230mph...

Your car is very quick nonetheless .

Nice runs!! I have two questions:
1. The 4.5sec to 60 was using the "one foot rollout" feature?
2. (This one's open to the community) Do 1/4mile drag strips use/don't use the "one foot rollout" while measuring 60', ET, etc?

I hate to say it and I'd love to be a believer but.... Those slips don't correlate.

I agree, the breakdown seems to be off on the last run. I do believe in my 11.90 time nonetheless. I knew right away it was my best run long before receiving my slip, I had no tire spin and it felt awesome. I didn't have my left foot on the brake, so who knows maybe I rolled a few inches. My best run is at the very end of the video, filmed from the grand stand.

I think there could be discrepancy between the way track measures things and my own GPS logger. Here are logger shots (in order) from run 1 (4.74) and run 2 (5.52) for comparison. And my best 4 second 0-60 from "the street"

My plan is to go again in the near future and get more than 3 runs in a day and see what I can do trying different things. One thing I promise - my slips or data loggers are not photoshoped Just shearing with the community.
