Moving to New Jersey: Anyone have any advice on where to look?
Hey Guys,
It seems as if I'm moving from Long Island to New Jersey. I'm going to be renting for the first year, and I was looking for nice fun towns to check out. I work in secaucus, and my GF works in Hackensack. So we're doing this to cut down dramatically on our commutes. We arent big partiers, but we would enjoy having a nightlife when we want it. Access to manhattan is very important as well since it's kind of a hub to see family and friends. I was looking into JC/Hoboken. JC is a rough commute to hackensack, and Hoboken is expensive to get a luxury building. I'm looking at luxury buildings because I'd love a covered garage to park my M. Thanks for the Advice! Regards, Chris |

Check out paramus, ridge wood, secacus, nutley. You won't find that many buildings though but houses to rent. Ridge wood has a nice outside atmosphere.

Check out Port Imperial, its right on the river and has a ferry to Manhattan with easy access to Rt 495, 3, 4, and turnpike. Tons of buildings with decent rent and covered garages

i live in this luxury building in rutherford - http://www.avaloncommunities.com/new...rford-station/
it has an underground garage for parking, you are 10 minutes from secaucus and 10 minutes from hackensack. The train station is a 30 second walk out the front door and you are 2 stops from hoboken and 1 stop from secaucus junction. It's a little expensive but way less than hoboken. |

bergen county is where it's at. A lot of shopping too, with decent roads. Ridgewood is a good bet.
Stay away from paterson tho if you want to keep your car lol |

Montclair/Glen Ridge are nice towns, good access to night life and restaurants (Most of them being BYO). Good train access to the city/JC and a very short commute to Hakensack/Seacaucus.
A few luxury buildings in those towns with covered garages too. Although the Port Imperial/Weehawken area, as suggested before is pretty fantastic too. Last edited by richb811; 11-14-2012 at 04:36 PM.. |

I'm in Tenafly, and there are town houses/apartments near Englewood if you have a higher budget. GWB is RIGHT there and Hackensack is just down RT. 4.

I'd have to agree with what has already been said. Bergen County is absolutely where it's at. Can't go wrong with any of the mentioned areas. |
