LC error and strange noise on S6 near readline.

These are two separate issues / questions.
My PS2 have about 1/32 tread left. I've been pushing the car pretty hard on the almost slick tires... ~14k miles

1. I use LC about 2-3 times per month. Most times the car takes off perfectly. Once in a while, the back end is not able to grip and the rears feel like they are going to start hopping- LC FAIL and I let off the gas.. Did it last Friday and the transmission overheat message error came on just as the wheels began to hop. I pulled over immediately and restarted the car, the message went away and there is no notable damage to the car... Drove it hard on Saturday with no issues. Should I have the tranny checked by the dealer, has his happened to anyone else.

2. When in S6 right around redline and upshifting, I hear a strange grinding sound? Is this the LSD or something else. It only happens when I'm really pushing the car to its limits from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd. Not sure if its a tranny noise based on the issue above. (had happened before Point 1 but only recently- its a new noise) Thoughts?

I almost feel like I'm pusing the car too hard and its going to break,,,,

1. I have no direct experience but it sounds like if the transmission says it's overheating and you can duplicate this issue it sounds like something is very wrong!

However, you should put new tires on the car before bringing it in so the dealer does not blame the problem on worn tires-- I know there is probably little connection since "slick" summer tires should be adequate in the dry (not in the wet obviously) but it sounds like an excuse a dealer might use...
