Do BMW driver's really use 56K?

I noticed in the picture galleries warning people with 56K connections. Does anybody still use 56K. Just curious what you guys are using to connect to the net.

Hey, first one to vote!

I use cable modem service. I don't know too many people who still use dialup. Might as well have a rotary phone.

Most people who use dialup probably don't have any other choice. I just got DSL about 6 months ago because it wasn't available in my rural area.

I use my $3k macbook pro to connect to my neighbor's cable internet.

I save on average $700/year, which is roughly the difference in payments from my current car vs my previous e46.

Also, because I am the only occupant in my house I don't need nor do I have a landline phone.

I hope it isn't a set up where they hack into your computer. That is how they lure you in.

basically what the OP is saying is.. "there's no need/reason to put "56k GET OUT OF HERE" .. or 56k YOU WISH.. or 56k NO WAY"

I use FiOS and it rocks the casa.

However, there are still plenty of sparsely populated areas that don't have high-speed internet service. My parents have this and it drives me bloody nuts waiting for things to load.

If you find yourself in the above situation, take a look at celular data cards, or if you have a newer Blackberry, the tethered modem data plans provided EVDO is offered in the area.

Poll looks wrong, since the choice of "fiber" is listed as if it were slower than a T1 (1.544 Mbps). It's way, way faster! I'm "only" on a 15 Mbps plan, but you can order speeds in excess of T3 (44.736 Mbps) with FiOS in some areas now.

I only ordered the 7MB plan. I haven't seen a server yet that can deliver data fast enough to justify anything faster. Maybe google, but not much else. Too many nodes between me and what I want to see.

HA ha ha. I like that.

I'm in Saudi Arabia, and while it is supposed to be T1, sometimes it is as slow as 56k.

+1. At my office, I dropped AT&T's outrageous, and ever increasing business internet fees. Instead, I have ridden on the coattails of a local office's open WiFi connection. And when they bog down, I can tag on to the coffee house's open connection a few doors down. That has saved me at least $600 a year. At home, I dropped the landline that nobody but my mother called me on, and bundled the cable bill w/ an internet connection.

LOL, i always wonder why guys still include this into title..... chances are it's just a different way to let people know "prepare for some nice big pictures iside!" - as in lots of eyecandy coming. Noone gives a crap about 56k really I think.
