Track Day- Winter Event- June 20th Queensland

FULLY BOOKED... NO MORE SPOTS LEFT

This one now fully booked but if you want to come out for a sticky and chat feel free to come out to Willowbank. There may be some guest drivers bringing race cars on the day, more on that when they confirm

I'm thinking of organizing a trip to Morgan Park at Warwick, half day on track then an overnight stay at local accommodation. Something a bit more social and bring the family along. I'm also told it has now the longest straight in Australia which would be great to get some real speed going. If there is sufficient interest I'll get some costs together

VALUABLE INFORMATION: Thanks to a Member Stephen Young for this info
An extension on your CTP insurance is available (FREE with Suncorp) to cover you for our Track Day event as per your normal CTP. Everyone attending should have this before driving on the track. The wording from Suncorp is as follows:
The name of the event is M3 Group track day

..................................................

M3 GROUP TRACK DAY

CTP Insurer – Suncorp Metway Insurance Limited

This is to certify that the CTP insurance policy for the vehicle detailed above has been extended for use in racing, pace making, or in reliability, speed or other trials.

This extension is limited to the period between 20/JUN/2013 and 20/JUN/2013 inclusive and is granted under the terms of the Motor Accident Insurance Regulation 2004.

.................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ...

All you have to do is contact your Insurer, give them the name of the event, the rego number of your car, the make and they will email you the certificate

Another track day on the near horizon and this one is all but fully booked
THREE SPOTS AVAILALABLE
A new format now, "open track" which allows you to go on or off the track at will and not be waiting for a group to be called out. This was a huge success at the last one and by limiting the numbers Queensland Raceway allows us to do this based on the number of cars rather than drivers.
I can take 2 more cars on the day, if it is anything like the last one it will be sensational. No timing, no competition, driver training available if needed, just a comfortable and social day out at Willowbank (Queensland Raceway)
Start 11am to 5pm Queensland Raceway, June 20th

Details of the event below:

Sorry, I think you need to be registered on Facebook to look at the link.

Its $190.00 for the day, an 11am start to 5pm, with instruction included. There are videos on an earlier post of the last track day, just a few threads below.

Thanks Michael
Look forward to seeing you there again, I think this one will be even better and at a perfect time of year.

I think I can say that anyone who has done one of these days had enjoyed the experience and would come back to the next one. It's also a sensational venue and a good way to catch up and socialise a bit with like minded people

What kind of damage will this do to my tyres? Do people just use their daily tyres or find some others for the track days?

Very few people change wheels for track day. This is a more casual event and we don't see great numbers of cars taking it to the max. I've been to 5 of these events and done 25000K on my tyres and they still have about 40% tread. It depends on the way you drive, and how many laps you do on the day, and being winter the track will not be nearly as hot, so it's not a concern.

Restrained all right, living on the Gold Coast we have had roadworks on and off now since 2007 including the construction of the "light rail system" and everything is just like peak hour all the time. The highways are covered with speed traps and highway patrol "police" and are pretty much straight lines so the only time to really have some fun is on the track or on a country road. I think there will be another 5K left in the tyres, would be interesting to poll what everyone is getting out of a set of tyres.

You'll shred your tyres usually if your alignment is out. Bad toe will feather the tread. I started off on street tyres and had no problems, then bought race wheels and slicks to pull lap times down. The slicks are quite cheap too. I want something wider in the rear, so will probably sell them soon if you're in the market

Update: now up for a set of tyres, lasted 25K.
I was thinking 305's on the rear this time and 265's on the front... any thoughts guys, does anyone have this setup? If so did they hit the guards or hit when turning? I have 295's on the back now and need a bit more traction with the SC fitted.

Last minute pull outs free up a couple of spots

[QUOTE=MFKN3;13974771]Put me down for 2x mate

As always it will be great to see you there again...

Guys, a couple have pulled out at the last minute which frees up 2-3 spots.
Anyone interested let me know and lock it in. This is the best time of year in South East QLD for a day like this.

Looking forward to welcoming a few new faces and new M owners at this one.

It's only $190.00 for a day that starts at 11am - 5pm and includes driver training and as many laps as you want to do on arguably the safest track in the state for this type of event.

Obviously depends on your offsets and tyres, but my new tyres should arrive next week and I'm going 275 up front and 305 in the rear, so should be possible

Sounds good, I'm keen if they'll fit. I don't think it'd be any more than 12-15,000km and I've got another 1-2k left.

Hendrik might know about fitment? Sounds like a good idea, except import duties might add up. I won't need rubber for another 2-3 months
