Corsa exhaust install
Installed my Corsa exhaust last weekend.
The installation was really easy. When I first snugged everything up, the mufflers were crooked, vertically. Turns out that you can rotate the midpipes to line them up, and I got them nice and tucked up towards the bumper and perfectly even. Just a matter of loosening both clamps. Other than that, it fit really well. The welds are mostly really nice (except for a really messy resonator weld on both sides, it looks a little sloppy) and the build quality, at least on mine, seems really good. I hear a lot of stories about the Corsa exhaust not lining up and I think they need to do a better job documenting the adjustments. - If it doesn't line up side to side, you can loosen the middle clamp and slide the exhaust in and out to line them up. Mine lined up perfectly with the pipes all the way in, but there is 1/2" each way of adjustment there. - If it doesn't line up vertically, you just need to loosen both clamps (the midpipe to catback clamp and then the clamp in the middle of the corsa) and rotate the pipes. The hangers work fine with about 10 degrees in either direction, which gives about 1/2" each way of vertical alignment too. Maybe more. Sorry about the blurry pictures, but you get the idea. The biggest downside is the looks. The Sedan exhaust is a little different from the website pictures in that the tips are shorter and the Y pipe from the muffler is custom built instead of the coupe version being what looks like an off the shelf Y. I kinda like the sedan's tips better, but there isn't much difference. The only thing I don't like about it are two things: The tips are a little bit small (I like the magnaflow tips better). The other thing that bugs me a little is that the canisters hang down a bit too much, I wish they'd tucked them up a bit more. But, it's not that bad. I may paint them black if it really bugs me later on. So far, pros and cons: Pros: - Sounds GREAT, it's the perfect exhaust volume for me. - completely shuts up when you want it too - sounds exotic and higher pitched, with a varying tone and some interesting frequencies - Fitment was great, with a lot of adjustability Cons: - Tips are a bit small - Canisters hang down too much - not the cheapest exhaust in the world (although not bad at $1699 retail, I got it for 20% off during UUC's sale) Hope that helps your exhaust buying decisions. Honestly, I was never going to buy a UUC exhaust again after all the problems I had with the System*U and the Twin canister exhaust on the E36... blah! But, I guess Corsa makes good exhausts and UUC just puts their name on them. The video attached shows the exhaust from both inside and outside. It starts out inside the car with the windows down, through a little normal driving and some hard acceleration. Then, I put the windows up and get on an expressway, and you can see it doesn't drone. I then stuck the camera on the bumper so you can hear it from the outside. Hopefully it gives you a good idea of what it actually sounds like. Props on the new system. Yep I have always said they need larger tips!

Sounds great but the aesthetics of the mufflers turn me off.
The canisters are too bulbous and hang too low, the tips are too small (let alone not being true quads), and the price is a bit high for just a pair of steel mufflers. If the canisters were smaller or tucked up, and the tips were redesigned, then I would buy this exhaust right away. The sound is definitely top 5. Just my 2 cents

Thanks for the write up. I also have been considering the UUC Corsa exhaust, as well as Dinan and AA, so this is very helpful. And the price is very attractive. It isn't the best looking exhaust in the world, but I don't think it looks as horrible. You said it has a high pitch sound - does it sound F-1 like? How much different (if at all) does it sound in person than on the UUC Corsa video clips? And how about drone? What does it sound like from inside?

dammit, I can't figure out how to get the stupid video to embed. It will answer all your questions. No drone at all.

I agree with your criticisms, but my first priority was sound, second was fitment, and 3rd was asthetics. I figured that to equal the first 2 and better the 3rd, I'd be spending a lot more money The other choices in that price range were the Remus (way more money when you factor in buying connecting pipes) and not nearly as cool a sound... The Agency power (no E90 version). I tried the Magnaflow as well and it was more domestic V8 sounding than I wanted. Didn't want a Meistershaft, as I hate companies who rip off other's designs. The Borla was my other choice, but it doesn't sound as cool, although it looks nicer. (although I still don't like the tips... and I have had a horrible time with Borla fitment on a few other cars) Anyway, thanks for your feedback, I'm happy and hopefully when I paint the cans, they won't be so obvious. |

Cans look like crap indeed. I thought nothing could look worse than stock, but I was wrong. Way wrong .

Great vid. It sounds like a cross between an american V8 and F-1 and has a very high pitch at WOT. Also, I didn't hear any drone in the cabin while cruising. Congrats!

the muffler hangs low but it doesnt look any lower than the stock exhaust. my bastuck exhaust hangs almost as low as well. although it has bigger tips.
as long as fitment and sound is good, i think its alright.

Sounds great in the video. I wonder what's louder, this or Bastuck. Seem to be 2 of the only no-drone exhausts out there.

Decent sound. Hating the canisters. Very few exhausts look good from the back on this car.
