i live in MA and work in CT so i get the worst of both worlds. in MA, if you want to contest any sort of moving violation you have to pay a non-refundable $20 fee. where does it go? oh - to people who got into motorcycle accidents who weren't wearing a helmet. why does that matter? it's illegal in this state to ride a motorcycle without a helmet so they confiscate $20 from you and hand it over to criminals. liberalism - so remarkably illogical. |

I just recently moved to farmington CT from good ole queens, NY and have to admit the CT DMV thus far has been a little more user friendly then the NY DMV. Switching my license over was a piece of cake, though I hated having to give up my Ny license in return. I remember spending hours at the damn college point DMV waiting for anything! I think the problem is with CT ripping everyone off with their taxes and rediculous traffic violation fines. About two years ago, I got nailed going 75 in a 65 on the 84 at about 12 am as well, and the fine was aprox 325- or 350. Now that was insane. Hence I have since invested in a radar detector and will be using them as long as I keep driving.

This is only the case if you get 3 moving violations within a 3 year period. Then you are on a sort of "probabation", and risk losing your license for 30 days.
I have 2 good friends that recieved this same letter, and one had to do the re-training. 9 over on 395 with no one on the road though does sound a bit fishy.
