Were you really going 9 over or might you have been going faster and he just wrote you up for this?

If you were really going 74, it proves the old adage - "Eight is great. Nine you're mine!"

i live in MA and work in CT so i get the worst of both worlds. in MA, if you want to contest any sort of moving violation you have to pay a non-refundable $20 fee. where does it go? oh - to people who got into motorcycle accidents who weren't wearing a helmet. why does that matter? it's illegal in this state to ride a motorcycle without a helmet so they confiscate $20 from you and hand it over to criminals. liberalism - so remarkably illogical.

I just recently moved to farmington CT from good ole queens, NY and have to admit the CT DMV thus far has been a little more user friendly then the NY DMV. Switching my license over was a piece of cake, though I hated having to give up my Ny license in return. I remember spending hours at the damn college point DMV waiting for anything! I think the problem is with CT ripping everyone off with their taxes and rediculous traffic violation fines. About two years ago, I got nailed going 75 in a 65 on the 84 at about 12 am as well, and the fine was aprox 325- or 350. Now that was insane. Hence I have since invested in a radar detector and will be using them as long as I keep driving.

This is only the case if you get 3 moving violations within a 3 year period. Then you are on a sort of "probabation", and risk losing your license for 30 days.

I have 2 good friends that recieved this same letter, and one had to do the re-training. 9 over on 395 with no one on the road though does sound a bit fishy.

What the heck is "probabation"? Is that like house arrest with babes provided to monitor?

I would tell them to pack sand. CT DMV isn't all holy. Most of the time most of the East Coast States are ass backwards in their laws. Driver retraining? WTH is that? I would throw that in the fireplace. 9mph over? GFTO! lol

Seriously, I was doing 90mph at 1am with 4 other cars and CHP blew by all of us at 100+. Its all about the flow of traffic bro and it was 1am.
It's MOST easy coast states....PA troopers would even blink at you for 9 over unless they had some "safety" zone that their boss was riding their ass about for "public safety" awareness.

NJ, CT, VA, MD, DE.....totally different story.

Cheers,
