came to school for a midterm. I was happy I aced it and find my m3 hit... Don't think it's dented bad but the paint is screwed at the quarter panel? I know it's not possible to buff out. Any idea if I should file a claim?will it raise my premium? I'm at the campus police station waiting for an officer to file a hit and run report.

Sorry to hear. People who don't leave notes suck at life and I hope they get what's coming to them.

Before filing an insurance claim, go to a good body shop and get a quote. If the repair is within several hundred of your deductible, skip the claim and just pay for the repair. No sense in giving your insurance carrier an excuse to boost your premiums.

Good advice.

Sorry OP.....gotta be careful on campus. You know many students drive beaters and don't really give a s*** about hitting a M3.

Good luck.

An advice for ya. Park your car really far...like to the end of the parking lot!

Exactly! Thats what I do. Or choose your spots near walls or pillars so your car will be "one sided".

Are you going to De Anza?

Oh yeah, Sorry to hear that........

This is really bad luck, but so many people are jealous that Mantis is probably right.

Also, don't forget to update your signature... no longer in a G35, or?

Yeah, there's no point of keeping the car in the garage...
By the way, can anyone recommend a good body shop near rowland heights, CA?

That Sucks ass man! Sorry to hear that. I had a Saab 93 Aero and it was 16 days old and someone hit and ran on me at a light. Smashed the hell out of the right/rear quarter panel, about $8,000 in damage and it all came out of my insurance because this asshole took off and I was stuck in traffic and by the time I started chasing him, he turned into a neighborhood about 1/8 mile from me and I was not about to get in a highspeed chase with some maniac in Vegas and risk running over some kid. Anyway, it's a "non insured" claim so if the damage is more than your deductable, file the claim and it won't boost up your premium because it's not your fault.

My M3 is now parked in my garage, comes out on nice sunny days, and I don't drive it to work, supermarket, crouded areas almost ever. Just drives from time to time and road trips. that's the price you pay if you want to keep it from getting smashed by some jerk-off idiot. Honestly, since I drive my '92 318i beaterbimmer, I don't worry about my M3 like I used to every time I go park to eat lunch or go into town to do something, especially on the bad weather days.

Taking it out of the garage once in a while is a real treat for the day, kinda like when your wife finally gives it up after a month Ya, turned her in for another Good luck getting it fixed and make sure you get a body shop that has a life-time warrenty and sponsored by the insurance company.

UHH I got my e90 325i in July of 2005. Took it to school. Friend of mine hit it in the parking lot in maybe September. Problem was the car/model was soo new that there weren't any doors available in the US. They had to manufacture one for me and ship it over. Also had to wait a while as all new doors were being used for cars being built.

It happened again with a different "friend".

Always made then pay for the fix though. And yes, taking any BM, 325i or M3, to college is asking for it.

What should I do? It'll be a month before I have time to take that to the workshop. Can't afford the downtime without a car.

A STUDENT driving around in one of these things? I may like to "stir the pot" a little now and then to keep things lively around here, but let me 100% serious for a moment...

Please drive your car safely.

How do you know it can't be polished out? Was it stripped down to the metal? From what I'm seeing, that's definitely not sheet metal, just the friction between your paint and the other person's paint as they scraped each other. If the scrape didn't go through the clear coat, then that can be polished out.
