Good deal on 2009 M3
I need your opinions on this deal. I've been lurking on the site for a while and now I'm ready to pull the trigger. Below are the specs and deal I was offered today on a new 2009 M3.
Dealer wrote: 2009 BMW M3 Coupe Alpine White w/Fox Red Leather Interior Cold Weather Package Premium Package Technology Package Dual Clutch Transmission 19” Wheels w/Performance Tires iPod and USB Adapter Smartphone Integration Enhanced Premium Sound MSRP: $72,175 The carpeted floor mats don’t come with the car and I usually toss them in at no charge. I would be willing to sell this car to you for $1000 over my internal cost, which is invoice plus $470 (including the mats). That would put the selling price at $68,300 plus that applicable taxes and fees. The total cash purchase would be $71,007.57. Let me know what you guys think. I don't think I'll be pulling the trigger on this exact one because I don't want the cold weather package but would like extended leather. He said he would find me the exact one tomorrow. He found this one for me in a hour. |

I got a very similar deal on my ordered 09 DCT coupe in October. I was quoted $750 over invoice, but there was no mention of the "internal cost", which, in my case, came out to be $480. They sold it to me at $750 over their invoice price, $1230 over my invoice price. I feel like I got a good deal. They threw in the M3 mats for me as well. The difference between your deal and mine is essentially $240. But, if he's able to find you the one that you want in the States already, you won't have to endure the 2 month wait from order to delivery... Soon....she'll be here very soon....... |

I'm really liking this deal the more i look at it and the specs I sent him for the exact car I want only has a $5 difference. Basically he is selling me a 2009 for $470 over invoice.

This is a good deal. I don't think you'll be able to beat it now or once we get in '09. I'd do it and get it over with. It's fair to you and the dealer.

I'm not sure that I'm with you on your math here.
The way I understood your original post was that he would sell you your M3 for $1000 over his "internal cost" which he says is $470 over invoice. The invoice price that you calculate with the sheets here or on Edmunds.com is LOWER than the invoice price that he will present you with. In my case their invoice price was almost exactly $470 higher than the invoice price that I had calculated (various fees, etc...). I was unable to negotiate any of this additional, unexpected, cost off of the price of my M3. It was still the best deal that I had, so I took it. I know that you're excited, but I just want to make sure that you know the deal that you are getting. If he is indeed selling you an 09 for $470 over invoice...THEN JUMP ALL OVER THAT MFer! But, from your original post, it sounds to me that he is selling you your 09 at $1470 over the invoice that you can calculate here or on Edmunds.com. Either way, it's either a great deal, or a fair deal. Good Luck! |
