The E92 M3 is keeping its value!
Just out of curiosity, I went on Canadian Black Book (equivalent to Kelly Blue Book) to see what my car is worth. It pleasantly surprised me.
I bought the car about 6 years ago when it was 3 years old. In the 6 years, it only depreciated about $320 CDN a month (about $250US). Had I leased a Honda Civic in those 6 years I would have paid the same amount each month and lived a much sadder life.

M cars do hold their value well which does soften the cost of ownership. But gas, maintenance, insurance, opportunity cost on the outright purchase of the depreciating M versus payments on a Civic, etc., make that comparison disingenuous. That said, we're all happily here so no need to justify anything.
