Defroster kicks on intermittently blowing A/C??

Out of nowhere, the car's defroster keeps kicking on and air conditioning blows out of the windshield vents.

Cold air keeps coming out of the regular dash vents (but it's less). And the defrost cycles on and off. Over and over.

Does this sound like a failing blower motor?

Btw JC, to me it doesn't sound like a motor issue but rather control. Like shortcut between the AC buttons. Anything strange happend there, can of soda spilled over...?

Thanks for the thoughts. No, no changes there or spills. Wonder if a scan would show anything? Need to get a scanner.

This, maybe a bad switch on the defrost button? What happens if you press the button, does it turn off the defrost when it goes on by itself? Does it feel mushy or sticky (not soda sticky, but like the switch isn't coming back up) at all?

Looks like it might only apply to 2008-2011 MY though.
