is this a good deal guys for 2012 e92?

Hi guys I am looking to buy my first m3 in Calgary as I have been looking into it for the past year.

I came upon a 2012 m3 original msrp being 87 k fully loaded (mdrive, executive, competition, bmw apps, dct, novillo leather) so with tax and all the fees it is around 94 k brand new.

The m3 was driven by a bmw exec for half a year (they give these cars for the executives to drive for a period of time assuming for no fee or a low one), and of course now it is back on the lot. It is not titled so warranty is as is and so I am almost a year out of the warranty as it started may 2012.

There are 3900 kms, warranty is still good until may 2016/80 000 kms, I have yet to go test drive the car and take a look myself but I am actually not back in the city until the end of the month.

The final msrp including taxes, fees are 79 k. The carfax report has no problems whatsoever, so assuming upon inspection and test drive that there are no problems, do you all think this is a good deal? I put a refundable deposit to reserve it until I test drive it. I tried to negotiate with the dealership but they said they put a huge discount on this already. I was trying to get atleast an extended warranty or to have them take the dealer fee off ($500). I plan to purchase the car instead of leasing.

btw the pics i have received look great-no problems whatsoever.

Thanks guys!

Thanks guys!

Back a few pages there was some discussion about the prices/offers in December.

$79K seems high considering you are buying a used/demo vehicle.

Then they emailed me the specs for them:

Their original price is $92,682, so minus 15K will be $77,682. Again when they offer 15K off right away, I am sure some one who is actually interested in buying one, can negotiate 20K or even more off.

Anyway, just wanted to let people know in case anyone is looking to buy a new M3.

thanks j2m

yeah im thinking for 79 K why not just buy brand new with full warranty.

if i buy the car, I lose a year of warranty and I plan to keep the car past 2016 when the warranty expires, god forbid something happens after that I could end up paying more than I saved in the beginning for repairs.

would you agree?

Agreed. Not sure why dealers don't realize that their demo vehicles depreciate just like any other used vehicle.
A few months ago we were buying a Lexus GX and the Lexus dealer in YYC had a demo but would not negotiate on price. We ended up picking up a brand new GX with same options in Kelowna and saved over $2,000.

Are you looking at Calgary BMW or BMW Gallery?

bmw gallery...

the salesman is a buddy of mine and his boss would not let him go any cheaper than 79k, they said its basically brand new with 3980 kms on it, but yeah it still has depreciated so it should be 75 k final msrp atleast.

I tried to find out how much profit bmw gallery would profit from an old exec car, bc as we know the difference for brand new is around ~9% with the dealership paying 86 k for msrp of 94 k, In this case i am not sure.

Pretty sure that's one of the "Advanced Driver Training" cars.
If it is... you DO NOT want one of those. 4,000KM might as well be 40,000KM.
Did they buy it at the auction?
If you get me a VIN I can try to verify for you.

The car I just bought is one of those ex-training cars.

It's actually in very good shape considering (like new all over), the only thing I am unsure of is the DCT. I'm not sure if the quirks are normal, or if it is a result of heavy use (I've been manual all my life, so it remains to be seen).

I did buy mine for less than 79k though -- and took advice from Zahir @ ZR Auto before buying; he also shares my opinion that a well-driven car is going to be a better buy than a garage queen.

Just check everything out before buying and use it's past history as a bargaining tool.

I'm planning on modding the crap out of mine, and it will be tracked anyway. I think my last 335i was driven harder than most cars, and was still solid after 46000k. These cars can take a beating.

bigup-thx for reply.

You mind sharing how much cheaper than 79 k and what was the original msrp they quoted you and the kms present on the car already before you purchased? Did they give you an extended warranty or any other perks?

When all was said & done, it worked out to around 74500, but I also pushed for another $1000 to go toward tires, making it $73500. It was very hard work to make the deal happen, I almost walked due to their stubbornness.

Original MSRP was $89k iirc. That is irrelevant since they are used cars.

No other warranty; just the balance of the manufacturers (3 years) - It will likely be void by the end of the summer anyway, once I've made it faster.

The clock had just rolled over to 4,000km when I took delivery ... I'm already past 5,000 in a few weeks

Ur experience is kinda like a joke, my salesman at Calgary BMW never asks the 'Boss' to make a deal, they certainly know the bottom of their sale price. When u are spending almost 80K on a car, why not just purchase a brand new one? For those demo cars, they all have been abused, at least never been thru a 'brake in' period. My suggestion is to go to Calgary BMW and find a nice patient salesman, and work out a good deal on a brand new M3. Also I am sure you don't wanna see holes on the front bumper rite? As much as I know, those demo alpin white cars all have front license plate frame.

bigup did you purchase this through bmw gallery?

yeah i am not in town until march to view the car but Im thinking of asking for my refundable deposit back without even viewing the car unless if they lower the msrp.

why dont you wait for warranty to be over until you mod just incase something happens?

I am waiting on verification but I think it's safe to assume that it is one of the Advanced Driver Training cars.
4,000 track KM is much different than 4,000 KM driven by an executive. I would hope they are not misleading you because the dealer knows the history of the vehicle.

Yes, Gallery.

Regarding the warranty; the stock M3 is too slow; and life is too short

If it breaks, I'll deal with it - and certainly not through the dealership.

Yeah that ugly front plate. I'll be getting mine fixed soon.

I'd have bought a new one, but this one seemed worthwhile with the savings; my biggest regret is that my business partner just got a beautiful 07 997 turbo at the same price I paid for mine ... and I'm jealous as hell ! lol

thanks so much j2m

i remember they told me that this was driven by an executive, but if they are lying that is just bad

I spoke to mercedes and the salesman is offering me a good deal for brand new c63 amg coupe, if i walk away from this one (which i might do), but still deciding...

I am slowly, but surely chipping away all of my warranty. I blew my car at 3,000KM.

He's importing it from Houston. Here is the car, it's stunning, and comes with 2-year CPO warranty valid in Canada: http://www.porscheofnorthhouston.com...Texas/6367758/

He looked at the car here in Calgary, but they were not very helpful.

Yeah they told me it was a training car -- so I knew what to look for. I'm really leaning toward Evolve, but still unsure. I'm not going to do anything until the snow goes away.

Your car looks a beast!
