Just tried to install new BMC filter...

The part number is FB 577/08. I purchased it from Eagle Day and I told them my car was a 2011 M3 coupe. The filter does not have the female cylindrical extension that slides over the male tip that is in the air box. It has a flush circle on the end of the filter with a foam padded disc where the cylindrical extension should be. I assume Eagle day must have sent me the wrong filter. Can anyone elaborate on this? Thanks in advance.

Thy sent u wrong one. Happened to me. Its annoying. You can
Make it work with a ms extender but its a hassle. Return
it and get right one with longer extension for 2010su and above

Here is a link to Eagle Day's site with a picture of the filter. The filter they sent me does not look like that.

should work, that's how mine looks. Once the foam is centered, it's a snug fit with plenty of pressure to keep the filter in place. Enjoy the sound!

The male end is spring loaded. Push it in & slide the filter in place.

Intriguing....I have an '11 vert would solely changing an air filter make a noticeable difference in any regard to an otherwise stock car?

I will try again, but there was a pretty big gap between the filter and the spring loaded piece. The foam piece would not even touch the spring loaded piece. The filter would not stay in place because there was nothing holding it. The picture on Eagle Day's website has the extended cylindrical piece just like the factory filter. I don't understand why this one is different. I was doing some internet surfing regarding BMC filters and I came across a couple of for sale threads. They stated that the airbox changed in 2010 and that the filters were different for 2008-09 cars. Is this true?

In this thread, they talk about a euro adaptor being needed for a 2010 car. I think that is what I need.

Here is the adapter that I need. I guess Eagle Day did not know this is necessary.

You don't need an adapter. The part number you look for is FB 536/08. Your car uses the EURO version. BMC has this filter and there's no need for the adapter. Contact Eagle so they can send you the correct one. Believe me I have one. I will no longer use it though.

guys this is clearly the wrong filtere Also someone said he would not buy an "eagle filter" and to go with KN. THis isnt and eagle filter, its a bmc distruted by them.

I had the exact same thing. That one WILL NOT fit and will rattle in your box.

The proper "euro" one is about an inch longer and will tightly fit into the box v. the one you have does not fit because the peg is too short.

I would not buy an adapter but rather send it back and get them to send the right one. Adapter has more chance to rattle around too. Just get the right filter because the proper one has the little "penis" that is much longer and solid v. the adapter which is another piece to the system that can creak and rattle. Trust me on this I tried both ways.

I would not buy from that site again. I may be wrong but to my knowledge there is no 2007 e9x M3. MY starts 2008. FYI you can find the filter cheaper from other sites. I bought mine for $116

Why aren't you using the filter any more?
