BIMMERPOST once again sponsored the most recent Airstrip Attack taking place on 4/6-4/7, a two day runway shootout race event held at the Coalinga Municipal Airport in Coalinga, California.

This race features an ESS VT3-750 M3 vs a Ford GT with Whipple Supercharger (730 whp).

I actually didn't expect him to pull that much, a few months ago (vid below) we were pretty even, I actually thought I'd edge him out this time as I started in 2nd gear instead of 3rd.

At the last Airstrip Event event, he was 610whp, wasn't even a race, lol, at the Big Willow event (2nd vid) and this recent Shift-S3ctor Airstrip event he's at 730whp, no difference, that's why I thought I'd get him this time starting in 2nd gear.

Maybe because it was a lot cooler at Big Willow you were running more boost/timing and had better AFRs. When monitoring your AFRs at Coalinga they were ~ 10.9 to 11.2 so that probably robbed you of some 30-50 HP.

Ford GT? I agree that GT40 race cars are extremely collectable, but I didn't think ford GTs were... Is there even room for a briefcase in that thing?

This comment is pointless. That's like saying you'd take a 458 Italia or a Mclaren over an M3.... ANYONE in their right mind would. the ford GT is a $300k+ SUPER car. Can't even compare the two. Not even the subject of conversation in this thread. If anything, it's quite impressive that a Modded sports coupe that's nearly 1/3 of the price can keep up on the track with a Modded $300k super car. If you ask me, i'd take the modded M3 and still have a shitload of money left to get other cars.

but hey, different strokes for different folks.

If the stack of money comes along with it, I definitely agree with you.

My comment was in response to those bad-mouthing it just because it's a Ford, and saying it's not a collectible.

Obviously, is doesn't compare with the GT40 in that regard, but GT values have not depreciated. Many are worth more now than original list price.
