Oh F**k aye, that would NEED to be covered. That's a serious failure, good spot mate. And for a car that's only done 16K, that's ridiculous.

Good luck with the Warranty, keep us posted.

That WILL be covered. I had an extended warranty for five years when I had an E46 M3 and it was comprehensive. It DOES depend on which type you opted for, though, as there are drivetrain only warranties which likely would not cover this. Which did you get?

Have comprehensive 0 excess policy, car is booked in tomorrow. The service foreman agreed it should be covered, although he did ask me if i had whacked in to anything. I will let you know how it goes.

Car still off the road, car sat there all day then they tell me "we ordered the wrong shock absorber", I suspect they ordered a non EDC one. I was pushing them to change both sides but they wont wear it because the car has such low mileage. The bad news is it will be at least a week as the part needed is on back order from Germany.

hmm part on back order means lots of people having this fault. same is true for throttle actuators.

Car went in to the dealer on Thursday, shock absorber replaced under warranty, I tried again to push them to change both sides, but they were not entertaining it.

Yes, same with me. They would only replace the one side, but 35,000 miles later I haven't felt any negative effects.
