Why ford sucks

Because no one in N.A. would be interested in this over a taurus, correct?

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...on_turbo_drive

The turbo's headline figures are 360 horsepower and 393 pound-feet. Impressive numbers, to be sure. On paper. But on the dragstrip, they're something else again

Independent performance testing (by repected Aussie mag Wheels) has yielded a 0 to 100-kph (0-to-62-mph) time of 5.1 seconds for the automatic-only G6E Turbo. The same car's best standing-start 400-meters time was 13.3 seconds, with a terminal velocity of 108 mph

They do the same thing in the UK too. They make a few fairly respectable (Mondeo, etc) models that are available in the UK and not in the states. We get the leftover POS's here. Ford figures us for a bunch of backwards hicks that like to drive POS cars. No offense to any backwards hicks here . At least GM is starting to listen by brining the G8 from Down Under.

I think that there is a reason why they don't offer this car in N.A....because they know it won't sell. Sure, there are people who would be interested in this over a Ford Taurus, but most of those buyers are more about "status." A ford is not a status car and regardless of how this thing does on the track, it will still be a ford. Just what I think...

If those wheels aren't a direct rip-off of the e92 335 I don't know what is.

Anyone think that from the side it looks more like a GM product (Holden/Pontiac)?

Yeah, I thought it was a pontiac at first actually.

It's ford competitor to that car so that would be appropriate. I saw a G8 today and I thought it looked good. I can't wait to test drive one. If it drives well I would consider one.

In places like Vancouver, California, other $ places a BMW is irrelevant for status

It's because automakers can get away with giving us cars that meet such low standards relative to their Euro counterparts.

I mostly agree, but what about the Ford GT or the Nissan GTR, many people like to say it's just a nissan and disregard it.

It really does look like a Pontiac/Holden product which is why it reminded me of the whole Pontiac/Holden thing. Pontiac is finally getting it's act together by bringing the G8 to the US.

But just the same could be said about BMW too. Where the hell are our diesel models over here?

I like how the new Focus and Fusion look like they came from Europe.

IMHO GM has stepped up their game while Ford frantically tries to follow suit.

Here's why Ford won't bring these in: no one bought the great SHO Taurus from the early 1990's and the subsequent sport versions of other Ford sedan's tanked as well. Basically the market is too small to make this worthwhile for Ford.

Thanks, Mike.

That IMO is also because who wants a "performance" FWD Taurus.

I think you underestimate the market. The G8 looks like it will be a pretty good seller for GM. The Falcon is pretty much Fords answer to it.
