I rotate taking my M3 to work and X5. Its like 20 miles one way but I figure you have no guarntee in life to be on this planet tomorrow so why not enjoy the car in the now? I live more north than original poster and the snow was on the ground maybe 60 days last year so its not bad at all. Its not Barrow or Nome Alaska, where I have lived. It's the fricken east coast. lol People actually think the snow gets bad on the east coast. LMFAO.. Try living where it rains 11/12 months STRAIGHT and snows on the ground 12/12 months STRAIGHT. Has New York City or Boston ever been below -50 degrees F? Sorry need to get off my rant. Some guy here in Maine was bitching it was cold last night and it was like 40s.

Anyway people pay for the car, they should drive it. Simple. Not rocket science.

Yup, sums this ridiculous thread up in one image. One mans M3 garage queen is another mans GT3 tow truck. To each his own! I have DD 2 E9X M3's now...perfect balance. If I had a GT3, it would be a garage queen :-)

From a recent C&D article on the new F12:

Research undertaken by Ferrari with its 599GTB Fiorano customers indicates that 20 percent of them use their cars on a daily basis.

Something to consider for the future; most auto insurance companies offer "Substitute Transportation" coverage that provides a rental car allowance of $30.00/day for substitute transportation if your car is not drivable due to an accident. The cost obviously varies by location and by company but in Massachusetts, the cost is around $50-60 dollars a year. There is usually a maximum benefit per year of some amount but the average is around $900.

Disclaimer: I do not work for an insurance company nor do I sell or offer insurance for sale.

Oh please, m3post miscontrues what I say again.. I quoted the OP saying thaty the M3 is not really a practical car in rain or snow. Maybe snow, but rain?? C'mon. And believe me I am not hating; I have the money to pretty much drive many cars and I chose the M3 for my daily. I like the fact that it is VERY loud, rides hard, makes all sorts of noises. Shit half the guys on here can't even change their own oil and make the stupidest threads, yet yes, you guys are all die hard enthusiasts.

Cayenne is an absolutely amazing vehicle. It is so capable in ever way. Porsche has simply expanded beyond pure sports cars. That said, they have the best handling cars in almost every segment, be it sports (Cayman), sedan(Panamera) or SUV(Cayenne).

I agree, it is a real nice truck.. Although I'd have to have the turbo. And 05-06 models used are very cheap right now

I can't make out if OP is trolling or if he thinks his M3 is a rare collector or a Ferrari or something

really sucks about the hit and run!!!
But I think the M3 can be a great daily.

porsche suv to cruise around in, m3 backup.... pretty sweet

I will DD an M3 only because I cannot afford to have that car plus another ride. If I could afford the M3 plus another car it would probably be an SUV along the lines of an X5, and odds are that the cushier automatic would get driven more for quick trips i.e. daily stuff, so the OP seems to have the idea right in my book.

It's my DD. Even though my weekend car originally cost half as much, it isn't as versatile. Now I only get the weekend car out when I pine for the 'vert.

This pic just shows how hard the economy is. That poor Porsche owner can only afford the small trailer and one bike...

Quite touching.
