Well, I was just trying to accomodate his request to convince him out of it I will be disappointed if he doesn't pull the trigger. I couldn't own a GTR for practical and family reasons but would love to... therefore, I need to live vicariously through others.

i think they are cool for what they are but dont have much interest in owning one unless someone wants to give it to me. ive always lusted after certain cars and a nissan isnt one even if it is wicked fast. guess im a car snob.

I think you'd have more fun with an M3, a bunch of aftermarket parts, plenty of track days, and still some cash in the pocket.

Good luck with that lambo maintenance

Did you get a GT-R already? 2012's have tuning software available. Who wouldn't want 600hp with a tune and exhaust. I drive my GT-R more than any other sports car I have. It is not my daily driver though. It rides firm, as a high performance car should.

The whole Nissan service thing, yes they are not professional as BMW, but my BMW's get oil changes every 15,000 miles (BMW Free Maintenance) and I see the dealership once a year. I drive the cars ALOT more than I go to the dealership. Don't even worry about the dealership issue.

The 997.2 Turbo S is one hell of a fast car. Yes I would take it over the GT-R if the price was the same, but no I would not buy one at nearly $70k on top of the GT-R.

lol take it to and indy lambo shop no problem and i much rather have a lambo then a nissan...and yes i know the maintance cost my friend owns an gallardo
and i didnt claim to know i said from what i heard about maintance and if u think an gt-r is exotic i dont see it

Speed is not everything .....

Quality is and the M3 has quality ....

This is fast yes ... then I don't purchase my car(s) for the track ... ---> If you like to track then get the GT-R by all means

I have a friend with GTR (not 2012) in Group C and he can do 155mph. 3 days ago, there was a 2012 GTR driven by someone who had racing experience.

I heard he did 170mph.

I love my GTR.
Fast, nimble, fun, easy, comfortable, reliable - all things I like in a daily driver.
There's nothing tangible to complain about.
It has no problems and it performs like a champ.
It's great.
...
And it's a bit boring.

No MT : I literally hunt for things to do with my right arm.

When you go 100, it feels like 60.
Contrast that with an elise, where you can go 60 and it feels like 100.

If you like automatic, and like a little more 'performance' in your 'performance and comfort' blend, then the GTR would make you happy.

I think they are incredible cars and if you like the styling I say go for it. However, for the same money I am back into a Porsche.

Yes I know it will beat most 997s, but the GTR doesn't do it for me like a 997 does. I mean for 90K I am into a 997.1 GT3 and just $10k away from a 997.2GT3.

I really respect the performance, and from personal experience I can say they are damn fast, but the GTR just doesn't "do it" for me. Funny thing though, an R34 would REALLY "do it" for me. If someone were to want to swap a mint unmodded R34 (like a unicorn really) I would probably throw the M3 keys at them before they could change their minds. R35, much less so. Maybe its the more raw nature of the elder version, maybe its the mystique, maybe its the fact that I cant have one..........

I think that delta is more like $15-$20k; more towards the latter. However, that means you can get a .1 for roughly $80k . Do it!

I think GTR's are phenomenal cars. It's a slightly less practical car than the M3 but it is more performance orientated. For the big boys like Ferrari, 911 Turbos and Lamborghini's it runs with, the practicality is really good and the price is excellent.

Comparing new car pricing against a used car seems a bit unfair.
There are used GTRs too.
The gap $30k plus if you compare apples to apples.
