I knew something was wrong...
Like my title says, I knew something was wrong....I've taken the car to 4 dealerships now, and everyone told me "no, nothing's wrong." (South Bay lied to me about the work done on my vehicle, and Crevier refused to even check my oil levels for me) Finally, at Pacific BMW in Glendale, they put more oil in my transmission (turns out South Bay didn't put in enough during break-in service, they mentioned it before even I did!) and things felt better. But I had this nagging sensation that, although things were better, things weren't 100% peachy.
So, I was driving local roads at "my" usual pace (I baby my car, I'm sure some people here know), dropped it into second gear, and shit just hit the fan. First these two... Then... Then again... And again... Ending with the DSC one AGAIN, but with a newly lit dashboard... My car doesn't even have 5,000 miles on it yet.... |

A few "quick fix" ideas... I know it sounds primitive, but sometimes it works:
Put the car on stands: 1.) Disconnect Ground terminal on battery for 5+ minutes 2.) Check for loose sensor connections under the car including : Traction Control Sensor (each wheel has its own) -I have had these come loose after hitting a nasty pot hole (not in the M though) 3.) Check for loose O2 sensors in the various locations on the exhaust system (for the emission warnings) I don't claim to be a mechanic or anything, but I know that often these "major" problems are solved by some insignificant oversight. Good luck!

All good suggestions, but I wouldn't think the sensors would be the cause. I was on a perfectly level surface when this happened. I'm also not quite sure I get how a sensor explains how the power keeps randomly crapping out AND coming on hard, and how the car keeps wanting to stall. Guess it could be the car throwing its ECU false readings, but still...
As for the battery disconnect, I guess I could give that one a go, once I get back to my car. Not too hard to do. Unfortunately, I'm driving a Lexus SUV far away from my BMW at the moment. |
