Question about the e92 M3 dyno graph

I was just wondering how the HP and Tq crosses over at about 3,700 rpm? Shouldn't they be crossing over at 5,250?

You just read this out of Road & Track?

Reason is different scales on the graph. They do actually cross at 5252.

This looks like the same graph BMW published in the April press release.

The graphs should only cross at 5252rpm when the torque is given in lbf and the power in horsepower, which must be read from the same scale. BMW, as well as using separate scales for power and torque, has also used SI units - Nm for the torque (and labelled incorrectly both power scales as kW).

This might be consistent with their in-house practices, but it may be no conincidence that this also has the effects on the chart of

a) making the the max power look very high due to the apparent wide gap between the curves on the right hand side

b) making the torque curve look almost horizontal

Nah bro it's cool... a buddy of mine that tune cars was lookin at this graph and it didn't appear right to him. That's why we asked about the 5250 crossing over b/c he knows that all HP/TQ graphs should cross around 5250. I just needed a quick explanation to the "odd lookin" graph to clear things up.

I'm debating on whether to get a fully modded 335i vs e92 M3 that's going to be the best bang for my buck. I also have to take insurance cost into consideration on the 2 different models
