Leasing is in most cases more expensive than owning. Many times you are paying a higher interest rate and more depreciation. People lease because of convenience (guaranteed trade in value) and because they like to buy new cars every couple of years and are willing to pay a premium for such.

Derp the payments are lower on leasing therefore people who lease are poor!

You won't convince me. That's the standard reaction every time the lease vs buying scenario comes up. Maybe that's why people do it and maybe it isn't. Who's making the assumptions now?? FYI, when did this become about leasing vs buying anyway??

I have prepared lease vs own analyses for properties worth tens of millions of dollars for fortune 50 companies including after-tax and GAAP impact. I am confident I am taking into account all relevant variables and making pertinent assumptions in the m3 LVO analysis.
