E92 M3 Foglights?

Hi, after looking at hundreds of pictures of 08 m3s I all of a sudden realized that there are no foglights on the e92 m3
Does anyone else enjoy driving with their HID fogs on w/ their angel eyes? Or is it just me? (I just ordered 6000k xenons and 6000k HID fogs + angel eyes for my 05 m3)
Is there anyway to add some kind of aftermarket fogs to your new m3s?

Either way, I STILL WANT THE NEW M3!!!
I just wanted to see what you all think about this? Did anyone else even notice...?

I never use my fogs on my 335i, never used them on my 545i or any other car I have owned. Personally I could care less about fogs.

There are no foglights because those intakes are functional. They are routed to the brakes to cool them.

Rear fogs are still available by installing the EU light switch module. Perhaps even a better safety feature.

I noticed all new M cars dont have fog lights, because of the functionality of the vents maybe?

I agree with this to some extent. Headlight technology has come along way and fog lights aren't as necessary as they were before. still, if you have been in some nasty fog, fog lights can be a nice thing to have. i'm not going to really miss them on the M3, but i definitely used them on my 335i in germany all the time during the winter.

This is absolutely correct. M cars need the extra air intake to keep the brakes cool hence no front foglights...

That doesn't produce usable light, though--just for looks. To me, they visually compete with the halos.

I used to use the fogs on myh E46 in the frequent cloudy or wet weather we have here. Don't miss tham that much, though. You could install some mini units in the ducts.

What do I think? I think the last thing we need is another idiot American driver driving around on a perfectly clear night with their fog lights on because they think it looks cool.

I'm calm. If I'm not mistaken, you wrote, "I just wanted to see what you all think about this?" I stated my opinion about fog lights. If you are taking it personally, you need to thicken up a little and don't ask for people's opinion anymore. My irritation comes from driving an M coupe around in a sea of SUV's with their fog lights on (for no reason) at about my eye level. It is actually illegal in most states to drive with fog lights on unless the weather is inclimate. Obviously, that law is rarely enforced anymore. I wish it was.

Agreed.

If you do this (and you know who you are), you in fact are an idiot, because:

1) You think it looks cool, and you haven't considered the potential problems to oncoming drivers, even with properly aimed units. Especially with high-wattage bulbs, which screw up the beam dispersion because the filament is not in the designed spot for optimal focus.

2) On a clear night (or even a mildly foggy one), these lights don't do a damned thing for you. I know you think they do (because you can see further right and left due to the broad beam), but if you're going more than about 25 mph, you're not going to be able to stop before whatever you see running out gets clocked. The range just isn't enough to cover even normal urban speeds, much less rural. In addition, due to dimbulb (snicker) U.S. lighting laws, you're not allowed to run around on fogs only. You must also have your headlights on, thus negating the entire advantage of fog light placement and beam cutoff. They're designed to get under the fog (from your eye's perspective) and avoid the dreaded reflect-back syndrome of headlights, which effectively blind you.

Of course, with aftermarket fogs, you have the option (if you wire them correctly) to use them without headlights - but then you risk a ticket.

Uhh, no. The left intake is for combustion air (#3 in first diagram), the right for the transmission cooler (#1 in 2nd diagram).

The transmission oil cooler is #1 in the second diagram, the engine oil cooler is #2, the power steering cooler is above that. We've got coolers coming out of our noses!
