Front only BBK- Brembo/AP?

I know that you can run a StopTech BBK only on the front

I have friends who only have the ST60 kit on the front, and also know of numerous other M3s with this set up.

My question is:
Can the same be done in regards to Brembo or AP?

Thanks

I ran the AP Racing kit in front-only mode for about a month (two track days, I think) before my rear brakes arrived. They were fine that way - well balanced, no issues. Here's what I wrote at the time:

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpos...33&postcount=9

In retrospect, if I'd run a more aggressive pad at the front at the time, the stock rears wouldn't have run as hot as they did. The Mintex pads that the AP's come with have a lower friction coefficient than the RS19's (at least in practice, if not by the numbers) so the rears ran hotter than the fronts. If I'd put RS19's up front, the balance would have been better.

In any case, the AP's were great front-only.

I also know of someone running just the front AP BBK. The brake balance is good with the stock rear brakes which suggests the pistons in the CP5555 caliper were sized appropriately for the e9x m3, at least for the street. Based on JAJ's comments it sounds like the brake balance is off a little on the track but easily solved by playing with pad compounds.

You can run any BBK with fronts only.

As some may know, I had some damaged done to my car when I went off after my brakes gave out (plus driver error of going in too hot)

So I have to spend $$ fixing my car. Hence why I only want to do a front BBK (for now at least)

If price wasnt in the equation (it is but work with me..)

Would you do front StopTech, front ST Trophy, or front Brembo?

All 380MM 6 piston

With the base street perf pads...

Thanks

Currently I have ST Street perf F/R pads installed on my OEM system with ST Ss Lines and Motul600 brake line fluid

First, sorry to hear about your track incident. Was this recent? I know you had fun in the rain so did this happen during your next event?

What is the price difference between the ST standard and trophy front kits? I'm guessing the standard is $700-1000 cheaper, if not more, so if you want to minimize cost go with the standard st60 caliper. Yes, the trophy caliper is lighter and the kit may have a couple of other advantages but I doubt it will have an on-track performance advantage - tires and pad compound will have a greater impact on performance than the differences in caliper design. If you want performance and reduced cost then I'd go with the standard st60 caliper; if you want performance and looks, plus save a little weight, then go with the trophy caliper.

Stoptech will cost you less initially and in the long term because of lower cost replacement parts.

You can run both a Brembo and Stop Tech front only kit. Might want to get your Brake Bias adjusted a little though.
