Is the new M3 / M4 not selling?
My closest BMW dealer here in Vancouver has 6 @ 2015 M3/M4 DEMO cars currently on the lot while Bavaria BMW in Edmonton has a total of 16 @ 2015 M3/M4 cars for sale at this time.
http://wwwa.autotrader.ca/cars/bmw/a...=True&wcp=True I have been to many lots over the years and usually only see 1 or 2 new M3's at any time?!?!?!?! What is happening in your part of the world?

I think it's selling, it's mostly dealers stocking up on supply for the summer selling season. I think F8X generation will be the highest volume sales of any M3 model in the history of BMW, barring a recession.
Plus Canada market might be different than here in the US. The key industry indicators are: 1. average days sale (number of days it sits on the lot) 2. average discount sold below MSRP

^i agree, i think the F80 will sell the most.
Its kind of rare for a car market with such a powerful name to struggle to sell a new model like the M3. they did there homework. |

We can't keep any f80/f82s in stock at my dealership. As soon as we get them they're sold.

I'm seeing more and more everyday here in the DC area. I just went to a BMW event and sat right seat while a pro drove the M3. You might want to go do that because I guarantee it will change your perspective. It's a beast and a true M car.

Forgive me for asking, but how do you define a "true" M car? I think this is something that needs to be understood to better appreciate future platforms. |

I say a "true M car" kind of tongue and cheek because it's been debated here a lot. Sufficed to say, it does carry over many elements of the M brand and makes some improvements as well. Can't comment on the EPS vs. hydraulic steering since I didn't have enough time in the car. But, I did talk to some of the pros and they felt it was as good or better than the E92. Again, just one man's opinion.

As long as people like the way it looks and drives, it will sell. The technical details don't hold much weight with non-gearheads. I would imagine many first time ///M buyers don't have any history with 'needing' a V8/V10 either. ///M cars may be losing some who have followed the marque but as long as they can generate a stream of new customers, BMW won't mind.

This is the second thread I've seen about the lackluster sales numbers. It's not such a big surprise to me since the platform is such a departure from the previous version.

what "numbers"? there are no firm numbers posted in this thread. OP was simply making an observation about the number of cars on a lot, generally not indicative of the overall sales rate.

I've only seen two that really caught my eye. One was a nicely optioned M4 in Fire Orange, the other was Yas Marina with coilovers and some nice carbon bits. I wasn't a fan of YMB on the showroom floor, but it looked stunning in the light at dusk. I haven't driven the F8x yet, so I can't pass judgement. I don't hate the sound of those I have seen, but I certainly love the sound of the E9x more. I can't speak for other markets, but sales seem to be steady here. |

I was surprised to see so many M4 at the HPDE in Seattle last week. There were at least twice as many M4 as e9x M3 on the track.

We don't know the production numbers of this model but we do know they moved production of the M3/4 to a different assembly plant and I believe I read that BMW did this so they could produce higher numbers then previous M3 model years.
With this in mind then both higher sales numbers and more cars on the lots would be true. |
