I got rid of it because i wanted something different. However, the Cayman S is extremely nice but it doesnt have the rawness of the M. I miss that a lot!!

Didn't you drive the Cayman before deciding to trade up? Nothing against the Porsche, I love those cars but, seems like you should have done more test drives with the Cayman before you made a final decision. Sounds like you have buyers regret

I was between those 2 before pulling the trigger on the M. The CS didn't make sense for the lack of luggage space alone, but I was still torn between the 2. On the minus side, interior is dated, with miniature switches; lack of basic amenities (no BT and steering wheel controls, etc); lousy stereo, even the Bose; crappy nav; ugly rear; seats not too comfortable. On the plus side, driving position and driving dynamics are just perfect. Everything is in its place, and everything feels right, from clutch take-up action to shifter to steering to pedals. Sublime driving experience. Bottom line to me was too small, too little luggage space, and definitely prefer a V8.
Looks like I'm going to keep my M3 for a while, but when I was trying to sell it, I'd have bought a Vette Grand Sport instead. Don't want to be trading cars every couple of years anymore, but need a relatively simple car to keep after warranty, and the Vette fits the bill. Not perfect by any stretch, but relatively simple, reliable, and cheap to maintain and fix. Will probably keep the M3 for another 3 years, and get the new Vette on its 2nd year. Something like that. The only Porsche I would get is the GT3 or GT3 RS. Until then no Porsches for me. I actually have a M3 on order also. Hopefully I can upgrade to a GT3 one day.

I sold my 135i a bought a cayman S. I had the Porsche three weeks berore selling it back to a dealer. Despite all the great reviews about the Cayman, I just couldn't connect with it.
I went on to buy a 335i and now an M3. both E92's which for me are the best all-round package. I can understand your pain Solonng. |

Wouldnt call the M3 a raw car thats for sure...M doesnt have the road feel and precise handling as a Cayman S or 911...in comparison kinda numb feeling...for weekend car the Porsche is the better car...for daily driver the M shines.

I test drove a new Spyder and Cayman S and while I can say this:
1. Both the Spyder and Cayman S felt very driver focused (the interior, the drive, controls, everything...). 2. Very nimble but the front end felt a bit light and nervous around the few quick on/off ramp pulls. 3. I loved the simpleness of the cabin, the attention to detail of the components and the CF frame around the removable top on the Spyder were nice. 4. The optional CF seats were just amazing in terms of the bad-ass factor. However.... Compared to my M3, they both felt a bit under powered. Also, as a DD, there is no comparison with the drive-ability and comforts that the M3 offers. I agree with the OP that the stereo and Nav both suck on the Cayman and Spyder for that matter. I could never just have a Cayman S or a Spyder. I would only consider one if I could still keep my m3. However, the only Porsche for me is a GT3. If and when I buy one, it will be a garage buddy to my m3. I don't see myself getting rid of my m3 for any Porsche due to how limited they are, when compared to m3, as a DD. In terms of the m3 being Raw, well, the m3 is like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. It can be as docile as a kitty when cruising around town but all it takes is a flick of the switch and a gentle push of the gas pedal to have all of hell break loose. In an m3, one can feel the power of the amazing V8. In a Cayman of Spyder...not so much. I can see why the OP misses the RAW factor or the m3. -SZ |

Isn't the new Cayman S the same price as a fully loaded M3 coupe? And I would have gotten a slightly used Carrera 4S or GTS for about the same price. But at least you're driving a Porsche and it looks good!

Are you saying that the Cayman and Lotus are near to each other in almost every aspect?

Well depending how you spec the Cayman, it is about as close as anything to an Elise but nothing is quite like an Elise imo. Both mid engine, light, well engineered, about the same power to weight ratio, etc. The Elise is just a more extreme example, very little insulation, no power steering.....
