Maaaaan - Valet guys are killing me!

So I head to my car on Monday morning and lean down to tie my shoe before jumping in the car, and I notice on the front left lip a scratch on the very bottom side of the bumper. The scratch is barely visible - its mostly on the bottom of the lip but if you look from a low angle, you can see the white of the scrape. I'm guessing the freakin' valet guy parked the car too close to a curb and scraped the bottom.

WTF!!!!!! I was pissed when I saw it - ruined my whole morning. But after thinking about it, these cars are so freakin' low anyway, I'm sure it would get scratched at some point????

But seriously, this makes me hate valeting my car even more than I did before.

haha that sucks..but like you said its inevitable...the first time i drove out of a steep gas station exit...even when driving out at a sharp angel as to avoid the bumper aiming straight onto the street, i still managed to hear that forbidden scrape sound and cringed!! but like you said, these cars are super low...the zcp cars are even 10mm lower! yikes!

yes eventually would get scratched, BUT, this could have been totally avoided...its different when u do it than when some idiot who gets paid to park cars does it to u...i mean thats his job, and he cant get it right...moral of the story, dont risk valets...i would never let someone making a fraction of what i do touch my car...sorry to hear tho...just dont valet next time..lesson to be learned....especially in LA...i had one guy steal the LV emblem off my keychain once....that was my lesson and never valet again

I try not to valet when I can, but honestly, sometimes it seems like it's unavoidable in LA. Parking here sucks, and sometimes places don't have street parking or lot parking anywhere near the establishment!

u are right about that as i used to live downtown...but now, ive just become really anal with this whole parking situation after suffering numerous dings and rear bumpers getting hit and cracked with no note....currently, if i cannot find a parking spot i like or deem to be safe, or a valet only establishment to allow me to park my car myself and hold the key, i just leave and go somewhere else....just last week i went to the supermarket and there was no favorable parking spot so i went back home and tried again later....its complete paranoia for me at least...if i need something that instant, ill go home and get my beater

I feel you're pain! In a place like LA its almost impossible not to have to valet. I honestly don't know what I would do in a place like that. I'm the guy who's always parking on the other side of a completely empty parking lot for good measure.

everytime i go to a restaurant or hotels and someone usually comes up i usually say ill park it... they usually disagree but i say unless you sign a this paperwork that any damages on the car is your responsible..

then i show them this and have them signed every corner that my car is flawless then we go back and checked the list when i pick the car up.. ... then they usually say ok park there..

i always ask to park it myself

my girls understand..

but if it's a new girl, I generally make sure we go somewhere without valet

I wouldn't want to make her walk far in her heels.

But depending on the spot, if I go there frequently enough, they usually let me park it myself right in the front

I still have to pay the $10 to park it.. but whatever, price you pay in LA and Hollywood

true same here they usually let me park it myself and still have to pay the valet fee.. but id rather do that than handing my keys in, you never know what they will do to your car.

If anybody is going to scratch my lip or do any damage to my car, let it be me.
