Distortion when using phone through bluetooth

Has anyone experienced distortion specifically from the tweeters while using the phone through bluetooth? It sounds like static and it's really annoying. I've switched iphones but the problem persists. No problem with radio or ipod. I have a 2011 e90 enhanced audio and idrive.

Update: the problem went away by itself. One time gremlin.
