2008 e90 74000 miles
I've had my '08 MT for five months with no issues. No mechanical failures in the service history either. Only steering wheel, ashtray and iDrive knob done under warranty. I got it at 69,000 and it's going strong.
Any good preventative maintenance threads out there you can point me too to keep it that way? Thanks |

Mine's hardly high mileage but it's my daily driver and it has 56K miles on the clock. The atrocious gas mileage is annoying but all's forgiven when I stomp on the throttle!

So, I must have some sort of "special" car. Everyone complains about the gas mileage, but the least I've seen is a 17.5 daily average?? I usually see 22-23 on the highway. I don't put it to the floor every time I leave a light, but I'm not driving Ms. Daisy either. I usually get on it pretty good on take-off b/c I love the sound. If I see turns coming up on back roads I jump on it to feel the G's. Strange, maybe my computer is jacked LOL...

My commute is mostly one lane roads with a few stop lights so probably the sweet spot for MPG. |

112500 running better than ever. Lots of tires and gasoline. Oil changes, spark plugs a couple of times, I replaced my low fuel pressure sensor myself, I replaced plastic body fasteners that wiggle out, some of the plastic parts on the interior are peeling, windshield washer pump motor is leaking. I have a new one to replace it. All normal maintenance stuff albeit more expensive than other cars. I replaced my front rotors with about 75,000 miles on them, brake pads, brake pad sensors obviously. At 100,000 miles I changed my rear diff fluid. I've been doing oil analysis for the last several oil changes with excellent results. Go to go! Oh ya, 2 sets of those funky paper mache (made from hemp) front underbelly parts.
112500 ÷ ~315 miles a tank average, @ $60 a tank in california is over $21000 in gasoline. Last edited by 4corners; 07-02-2014 at 12:04 PM.. |

42k reporting in for an 2008 E90 M3!
So far, only issue has been a faulty throttle actuator issue, left bank I believe. Fixed under the CA State emissions warranty clause. (7-years 70k miles). My driving habits changed and now I'm 60% city. Now my car eats about 1 bottle of oil every 5000 miles. it use to be about 0.75 bottles in about 10k miles. just thought I'd mention, you know how to reset that mpg readout on the car, correct? some people just let it run and it's just computing the figures against the prior mileage, if your driving habits changed, your mpgs won't look different b/c the weights are higher on the prior miles. makes sense? try resetting the reading every fillup or like others said, do the math manually |

yes, but that doesn't mean shit. The dash gauge seems to be vacuum based, meaning it's just measuring the amount of throttle ala the old style MPG gauges in BMW/Benz

Agreed but he is saying he gets 315 miles to the tank. If he fills up 15 gallons that's still 21 mpg. I just have no idea how that is possible unless you are going downhill with a tailwind and never stop once.

EXACTLY... Been saying this for awhile now. I just filled up this AM, drove from Boca to Naples and the light came on coming home. That's ALL highway cruising at 80 and I am just getting 300 a tank. City driving is like 200-210 BEST. And I have had more than 1 m3 and the results are the same. These cars come w/ a hole in the tank that leaks as you drive.

Right on. Even with mostly highway driving a great tank for me would be like 230 miles. I haven't really done any longer distance driving though like you just did to naples so I'm sure I can improve some.
