ED on saturday, no factory tour
I'm most likely doing a Saturday pick up and theres no Factory tour over weekends . Just got to know. Am I missing out a lot? Is there anything else to see at BMW Welt or use the extra 2-3hr time for autobahn/short Bavarian road trip? I think I will make it to the Welt before 1pm and then by 3-4 pm I want to depart for "Eastern" Europe ....
Any suggestions for any Bavarian scenic 2-3hr roadtrips?

Depending on weather and when you do ED..the Bavarian alps are about an hour and change from Munich. Head south towards Austria for some epic scenery.

The factory tour was my favorite thing at the Welt by far, it is truly amazing and will instill you with even more profound appreciation for our cars and all that goes into them. I'd try to check it out if you get a chance.
If you're not able to change your date, the museum is open and is neat as well. I was lucky enough to see the M8 prototype while I was there, but there usually is always something pretty cool on display. I don't know any driving areas as I didn't have a car during the time I was visiting. Congrats on your new car!

Too bad you will miss the factory tour ... it was a great experience. Perhaps you can change your plans? There are many interesting place to explore around Munich on Monday you can take the tour ... the ladies and fellows at Die Welt can make you a list of things to see
If not then there are some nice photos like ...
and more in my signature link below Congrats on your new car when you get there ... have a safe trip

The only scenic drive in the neighborhood seems to be the Deutsche Alpenstrasse from Walgau to Salzburg. Starting from munich this is 5.5 hours

So take the tour on Friday! I did the factory tour one day, and went back for the museum the next.

That's a very good suggestion actually!! I just need to fly one day earlier. It makes everything more relaxed and I should have even more time for the drive on Saturday, thanks!

Since you are headed east you may want to stop and check out The Eagles Nest in Berchtesgaden.

Congrats on your new BMW! Take the factory tour. It's like visiting Skynet from the Terminator movies, very futuristic. Bear in mind that the only English speaking factory tour is at 11:30 AM. Enjoy your trip!

I have a 8am check-in, 9:20am pick-up... and then going to check out the BMW Museum. Leave for Salzburg, Austria after lunch for a short "bonding with my car" trip!

My pickup was also a Saturday and I went a day early and spend almost all day Friday at the Welt. We did the museum, the factory tour, and generally just hung out.
I'm pretty sure my pickup was also at 9:20am, if you are anything like me you're not gonna want to hang around and do the sight seeing stuff after delivery. It was time to hit the road.

4:20 should give you plenty of time to do everything at the Welt. Make use of the delivery lounge, it's very nice up there.

I did the factory tour the day after delivery at the Welt. The tour guide got a 'lil testy when she couldn't pry me away from the full size S65 she walked us past. So cool to look at and touch the engine outside of the car.
"Fraulein, I swear I wasn't talking to the engine... really." Enjoy your trip
