Not to mention any new software...I think I will pass. If the motor was out already for something else and I decided to run the smaller Schrick cams then I would highly consider it.

Considering people here still buy $4500 exhausts for miniscule gains, which are BY FAR easier to make/design than headers, I think $3200 is a fair price with no other competitors.

$4500 on an exhaust can net you ~40 hp (with a tune) and takes an hour to install. I agree that these make little sense unless you're removing the engine already.

So does $400 for a set of test pipes. Get my point yet? It's not the exhaust making the power; it's the removal of the cats. Either people are too stupid to realize this or they don't care.

Thats for the catted, which they claim cost 7rwhp. If you want the non catted its just under $1200. So basically if you run the catted xpipe you net out an extra 5rwhp over the stock headers. So not worth it.

You can spend just $400 plus tune to get almost the same 40rwhp.

It's cool but most won't go for it unless the motor is out as said by many. Even then not sure.

That's a pretty big jump in torque from what I can see. I'd love to have a 3300lb/400whp track car...that would be a monster! I don't think this is the worst deal ever. Look how many people buy E46 CSL intakes. Rep or real...its $2k+ and a tune. This is only the start. I think as time goes you'll see more gains from trial and error and R&D.

But the whole engine coming out part...not too appealing.

You don't have a csl intake! It's a must.

I don't think you know what your point is. My point was that, as wasteful as it might be to spend $4500 for a used Akra compared to test pipes, it is still a bargain compared to these headers.

So, to summarize:

Test pipes >>>>> $4500 for a full exhaust >>>>>>>> these headers

Go back and read your original comment then read mine again. Then you'll understand.

See above. That only further confirms that these headers don't make sense from a dollar-per-hp perspective. He picked the $4500 price point, not me.

I am interested in the headers for a supercharged application. My last car was a 445whp supercharged S2000. I had a $2k J's Racing header on it and it required a retune after install, and the max boost pressure dropped 1.5psi from 14psi to 12.5psi. HP gained from the Js racing header in the NA setups was around 10-15whp. On a supercharged 400+whp s2k, it was well over double that.

As I wanted to make the car as much of an efficient pump as possible, going with the header for more hp at less boost pressure and stress was a no brainier.

Regarding the M3 however, it looks to be a PITA to install, wheres my S2K took 1-2hrs. However, I must say that it is very enticing to couple these with say a VT2-625 kit that would produces more hp than a VT2-650 kit, all while running at the boost pressure of the VT2-595 kit.

For me, pulling the motor to install the headers is the thing holding me back from buying them now. Though I will give it serious consideration, when time comes to supercharge.
