Does the footwell module have any relation to keyless entry?
Hey guys, when I bought my car the keyless entry and comfort access was not working. I was told it needed a new door handle. So I went ahead and purchased a coded handle from a dealership. I installed it and the guy with the ISTA/P was busy, so I went ahead and purchased my LED tails and had them coded out in the FRM. This weekend I took the car to my indy to code in the handle, and he says ISTA/P has an issue with the footwell module. Is there a chance that the guy who coded in my LED tails may have messed something up, or does the footwell module control the comfort access / keyless system as well? Thanks for the help!

ISTA/P will want to update the entire vehicle if it detects that any modules are below the software version of the currently installed version in ISTA/P. So ISTA/P could be wanting to update the FRM module and running into an issue with it. |

The guy who coded it may have changed the vehicle order which could cause the programming system to reject the module in the car.
I don't think there is any reason to switch to FRM3.

You have a M5 listed in your details. E60 M5s do not have a FRM, but instead a LM.
LMs are offered in LM1 for pre-facelift and LM2 for LCI. Should have no bearing over Comfort Access.

Sorry, I have an E92 M3 now... And yeah, he coded the VO of the car. Is there a way to code it backwards? Or will I have to start with a new module run ISTA/P and then code out the LEDs?

Contact www.autologic.com for a programming facility in your area so coding can be performed correctly. They will be able to program the module back to a virgin state, and apply the FRM programming for your LCI lamps.

If the VO was changed, it's quite possible the programming system is rejecting the FRM because it expects it to be a different part number based on that modification. Modifying the VO is sometimes a "easy" way of programming something... not the way we do it unless it's a factory retrofit. ISTA/P can get confused very easily with part swaps and VO modifications.
We can certainly repair your VO remotely and ensure that everything is coded properly. PM us if you're interested and good luck with the fix!
