Not really
It feels like a CVT - almost no shift shock. Look at those curves I posted. You can see the shift shocks (and accompanying slow downs). None with DSG.

I know DSG is going to be great especially w/ the added benefit of no shift shock in relation to acceleration but I just thought about the shift shock of the E60 M5 in S6 DSC OFF 500 mode that thing just pounds you into the back of your seat holy sh*t that adrenaline rush is great...I can't wait to test out the V8 & see how sooths the mind body & soal with its powa

That is pretty heavy speculation
I think at this point both of those statements are pretty heavy speculation. The M5 SMG tranny will basically bolt right on to the M3. I think BMW is trying to get DSG ready but may not have enough time to do so. SMG would be a great money making option that many would go for. A lot of people only want a 21st century transmission for this car.

Good guess
VW GTI with DSG is exactly .3 s faster 0-100k than the non DSG car. I guessed this one about right on the nose. I suspect the M3 would be just about the same.

Fairly detailed test of VW DSG
Sounds a bit less than inspiring. A bit of the same story about MT guys not liking SMG (less involvement, etc.). It is funny how we can criticize something for being too good.

Good article. As long as theres a DSG mode/setting that makes you feel like you've just been kicked in the back when shifting, I'll be happy!
