LaGuardia Airport
Just felt like I off roaded my M3 from the Whitestone Bridge to LGA.
Worst roads in America - saw the pothole of death in which if I hit my wheel might have come through the floor.

I had to drop someone off at JFK airport yesterday and I was so glad I took my X5, yet still I cringed every time I hit a small pothole.

I hear you. There's this weird pothole patch at the Whitestone Expy > Grand Central West interchange. The mound to fill the potholes must be at least 5 inches high, no idea why they patched it that way. Avoid the right lane at the exit if you can. Its been 2 years since they started fixing the GCP next to LaGuardia and I've still yet to see any type of work being done the last few months.

I HATE THAT THING. First time i hit it was in my Subaru will fully built suspension, and it sounded like my strut burst right through my hood. After living in New Orleans I realize we do NOT have the worst roads in america, but DAMN are they close.

Haha yeah man. I drive these roads all the time. The boroughs are Hell! I'll compromise weight for strength when it comes to my wheels any day. The 220Ms are super strong.

I live in the area right under the whitestone bridge and drive the whitestone expressway westbound every day.......its like a minefield on these roads, I'm amazed my BBS LM havent bent after all the potholes I hit...thats a testament to how strong these wheels are haha

....One of the main reasons i hate living in NY and refust to put aftermarket wheels on my cars. I did it once with my beater (01 IS300) and i was literally replacing blown tires/bent rims like every other week It's worthless. Thats why i Drive my IS with blacked out 16's and some meaty ass tires

Living on Long Island, I have to brave these pathetic roads to get anywhere--Lime Rock, The Glen, NJMP. Any of these destinations require me to do the Grand Central, the Throgs Neck Bridge, the Triborough Bridge, the Cross Bronx and GW Bridge, or the Belt Parkway and Verrazano Bridge and Goethals--they're all terrible. It's not just the potholes, but also the horrible raised seams or frost heaves. It's like hitting a speed bump at 70mph. And traffic is usually so dense that you can't see them far enough ahead to react.
Oh well, they're clearly not spending money on keeping the roads maintained, but at least our taxes are low...

One of the many reasons I didn't buy rims, I'm constantly playing dodge the pot hole driving around NYC.

Third world countries have better roads. Ironically there are nice cars all over this area too. 9600 miles and just got an alignment and all 4 wheels rebalanced and I still feel a vibration at 75mph after numerous potholes and bumps.
I've considered coming out with my truck and a load of tar at night and fixing some of them myself. Makes you wonder where all the money goes....
