WTF?? Aren't that quick?
The Fcar was obviously toying with you. If he wanted to race, you wouldn't be making that comment. If you get the chance, drive one. You'll be very impressed by what they can do.

Sure you weren't racing a 360?

Putting an m3 in the same sentence as a ferrari....is ahhhh retarded!
Lambos are really bad ass too but...I'll stick with the Ferrari. Lambo just doesn't have the heritage of Ferrari..at least not when it comes to professional motorsports.

No BMW shouldn't even be named in the same sentence IMO. That is like comparing a turbocharged honda civic to an M3.

Well, the new M5 just matched the F430 around the ring ... how can you say that's not comparing? That's 560hp/4300lb car ... it's not all about lb/hp ... which mean M5 chassis must be WAY better? (I think it's the torque curve + DCT)

3200/480 == 6.66hp/lb (F430) - 7:55 (4.0 0-60)
4300/560 == 7.68hp/lb (M5 F10) - 7:55 (4.4 0-60)
... logic say M5 need 645 to match F430

Now ... I still would like the F430 over M5 as fun car ... no doubt, but passion != performance (but man passion matters quite a bit)

I know...that is crazy. Can't wait to see what the M6 can do. For a mass produced car, BMW sure is awesome and that is why I own two (2011 X5d and 2009 M3 e92).

This is BMWs first regular production car (not CSL, GTS, etc type cars) to run the Ring in under 8 mins and its not an official time yet AFAIK.

The Panamera turbo driving with 1 passenger, and with 60 less hp ran 7:56. This is a more impressive time. Not to mention this car is over 3 years old at this point.

For the most part the ring is all about power to weight and nothing else.
agreed.

Also, which one is better to drive? A light mid/rear engined car, or a front engined yacht? I find the M3 too big

I'd take a 360 Modena over an M3 any day. The F430 over the F10 M5 too.

that's the thing though. Feel and precision is getting more and more lost with every new generation.

Youd never guess the Pan turbo was a 4400 lbs car. It feel MUCH lighter and much more dynamic and nimble than the curb weight is.

In a nutshell:

1. The F430 is a Ferrari
2. The M3 is a BMW

Draw your own conclusions.

If someone had to come over to me and tell me I could have his F430 or his M3 but couldn't sell either - I'd take the M3.

Cos no way could I afford the maintanence of the Ferrari (the one I really want )

Call me a schizo, but two of my favourite cars are the F430 Spyder and F430 scud and I would spend ages to decide between the two.

Those two models you mentioned are also different from each other.... The Scud is designed with more of the track in mind

A buddy of mine and I've been thinking about giving this a try. Do they let you push the cars??

I noticed that the track is not too long. Did you feel you got a chance to experience the cars???

I did not buy my Ferrari to be the fastest guy out there. But I can tell you the M3 is BORING BEYOND TEARS compared to it. And the M3 is a damned fine car.

And no way in hell is the M3 close to as fast unless you want to dump $20K-$30K into it. And as much as I loved the M3 V8 it is a mere shadow of the Ferrari V8.

So let's just agree that they are both great cars for what they are and leave it at that......Steve
Personally, I think the 430 is one of the best looking cars of all time. I'd love to own one and would have one in a heartbeat if I could afford one! I agree with almost everything you said. However, some of these VT1 cars with full exhaust are putting out 515-530 wheel horsepower which is more than enough to hand an F430 a loss. Those mods are about $10k. A Ferrari is a ferrari though and an M3 will never feel like one.

Except for the serious lack of funds. But thanks for helping update my dream garage!
