Have you seen SSII in person? I think it's a great color, but under certain conditions, especially direct sunlight (think noon on a sunny day), it has a light green and light blue tint to it. And it's not faint, as the blue and green (especially the blue) stand out a lot under those conditions.
Space Gray is a rich color and contrasts well with the black parts of the M3, and looks very nice IMO on the E90 (as well as on the E92/93). But SSII is unique, and unique to the M cars, and if you don't mind that baby blue (the Trojan in me just can't bear it ), then it's a great color. |

I have both... SSII on the e90 and SG on the e60. I can't tell you how great SSII looks under all lights. I find that SG looks a little weird under certain lighting. SSII really shows a different color everyday.

I have SSII, so I can give you my honest opinion... and you can believe it . I was expecting a silver color, so I was a bit disappointed when I saw the car. Color looks great, although a bit feminine IMO. But after a testosterone injection in the form of black OEM 19s, black OEM grilles, black muffler (but chrome tips), tinted windows, reflectors shaved, and body-colored gills, I'm quite happy with it now. And I'm glad I bought it, because if I had seen it before buying, I'd have searched for AW instead, and there're TONS of those around, and in every model BMW makes.
The other thing you need to consider is SSII is the cleanest color in the M3 pallete, while SG is going to show dirt a lot. Not a huge deal, but another factor to consider. Good luck. |

Space Grey with Back leather! FTW The Silverstone is cool but too light.
Space grey is gorgeous...especially after its been washed and waxed...it just GLISTENS in the sun light. The grey is much more metallic than I had expected. Your choice, but I vote SG!

It always comes down to opinion, but silverstone really grew on me in the first few days after I got it. On a sunny day the color really comes alive.
It's more unique too, at least around my area. Tons of space gray around. It's a great color, so I understand why people pick it, but there really are a ton. |

OP: SSII, unique to ///M cars only, changes from a flat slate in low-light, to a horizon sky's blue at dusk in direct sunlight. On partially cloudy days and after a proper polish it takes the appearance of liquid metal-no hallucinogens required to view this.

id go with the ss ii cuz its a m exclusive. space gray is meh to me.
the way id like to see it, ss ii is a silver with a hint of chrome blue. makes it sound cool and automatically makes the color sound more masculine...even though its kind of more like an ice blue... but ss ii has ROCKED my world. after seeing that color, all monotone silvers or grays just seem monotonous. before, i liked titanium silver, but now it kinda looks boring now after seeing ss ii. thats how great of a color it is. it has changed my pallet. you should def check it out. |

SSII for the win........ there is NO mistaking ///M with it. The only color that is ///M specific. I love mine and after a good wash and wax on a sunny day.... it gleems like an angel on a dark night. I have gotten more compliments from other M drivers on the color than I have with any other car.
hell I love the color so much I just bought a blackberry because it was so similar in color. You gotta know.... you have to live with her.
