Just got done doing the install. Less than an hour; probably les than 45 minutes actually. I got the red light flashing on the mirror, so I guess all is well.

$139.95 to get the coding done at Beverly Hills BMW. Kind of high I guess, but whatever.

The red light should flash even when it's not coded. Mine does at least.

Center BMW charged me $130. Better than the $700 they quoted for complete install and alarm

Long Beach is pretty crazy with their prices. Too bad they're the closest dealer to me. Stay AWAY from McKenna. Just aweful.

All is well when the alarm is properly coded and you have a selection under "LOCKS" for acoustic signal with locking/unlocking. The light under the mirror will flash even when the car hasn't been coded.

Do you get to use the same key fob that came with the car, or are new key fobs will have to be use now?

I got a quote for $775 for alarm and full install. What the hell is the difference between the 2 on the bmwusa website?? Does one have more features than the other?? They both have different part numbers and I was told by several that I have to get the one for vehicles with interior mirror alarm LED. A member in here gave me some info, but Im beyond confused and dont want to spend more than I have too. The links for each are below. Any suggestions/answers??

The less expensive one is what people are intalling. Not sure if the other one is applicable.

Yeah, I had mine installed earlier this week. A member in here told me the difference and I confirmed it a couple weeks back. The cheaper one is the only option. The more expensive one on the website is for vehicles w/o the LED mirror (Thanks Technic) that came stock on the M3 among others

Damn. I paid $460 for the alarm AND the install. LB is crazy!! Depending on the drive, I would have driven a ways if the price difference was worth it

Has anyone done this install for the E93? I'm assuming its the same, but the pdf instructions at the beginning of the post refers only to the E90/E92. Also the P/N are different:
E90/E92 - 65 12 0 403 658
E93 - 65 73 0 427 835

Does the audible alert sounds like the e46 models?

Still have to install mine. The dealer quoted me $650 for coding when I picked up the car. They said they "need to leave it hooked up to the computer overnight, so they charge for 6 hours labor". I called BS, since there's no way in hell that A) it takes that long and B) I'd let them charge me when nobody was actually working. I'll call around and talk to someone besides the contract manager when I end up getting it done.

To those who have installed the alarm:

How much room is in that little compartment? I've got some air horns to install, but haven't found a suitable place to put them, and this looks perfect. Anyone have a rough estimate on the dimensions?

Going from old memories, and the scale of my hand, 7-8" l. x 4-5" wide & deep. Probably too small and tucked away for horns. Under the hood would be better.

There's no room. Hell, there was barely enough room for my hand to get to a grommet, much less room for 3 horns and a small compressor. I think there might be room behind the bumper, but I haven't been brave enough to take it off to look

there is no room there at all ... factory siren/bracket are the same size as that opening , so you wouldn't be able to put anything else in there ...

here are pictures of the car without front bumper, so you can get an idea ...

and here is the bumper
