Aftermarket parts suppliers?
Hello Folks,
Although I've been a member for some time, this is my first post. I'm from the north of Ireland and after reading this forum bought an '09 AW E92 M3, couldn't be happier with it. Basically, I'm looking for suggestions of who to talk to about aftermarket parts (some things I'm interested listed below), since I don't have a history of trading with, or much knowledge of who the suppliers of these bits are. Some vorsteiner parts such as the carbon lip, rear diffuser (smaller one of the two preferred), kidneys, side vents, and rear M3 badge painted or matte black, and just someone to advise on exhausts, and wheel sizes/ fitments (quite like P40's). The only thing I've bought so far is an H&R suspension setup. Thanks in advance for any help... much appreciated |

I'm sure any of the vendors on this site would love to accept your money. I know that IND sells pretty much everything you listed and have done big build ups on other members cars.

I asked the same question and got this. Very helpful, but I have no idea where it came from:

I'd take a look at pyspeed...Eric@pyspeed is quick to respond, and ships quickly even to those internationally! Look at vendor forum for all the good comments!
I've had great service from him! |

If only companies such as IND, WheelSTO, Project808 and etc. were here in Northern NJ. I'd feel more confident in dumping my money on them rather than taking a leap of faith with the unknowns.

Honestly, my recommended checklist in dealing with vendors on the forums: -Do they have a toll free number? Make sure you can call and talk to a human being if you have problems. Even the best companies make mistakes, and it's hard to get them fixed over email. -Have they been around for a while? Translation: are their business practices established, have they "figured it out?" Also, if they were crooks, they wouldn't last long (at least 3/4 of the companies that come on to these forums fail within the first 2 years) -Are they larger than life? Growing too fast? Sometimes, companies (not to name names) explode and grow too fast, and it comes out that they're cutting corners, or they're in it to make a quick buck, and then they disappear. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is. Just because everyone is buying from them, doesn't mean they are going to be there to help you in the future. Don't be wowed by fast growth. -Read reviews - especially the negative ones. Anyone can serve a happy customer. But it's how we as vendors deal with the inevitable UNHAPPY customer that defines us. Do they make it right? Or do they rest on their laurels and say "well, we have 99% customer satisfaction, so if you're unhappy, it can't be our fault" -Do they sell quality products? This is a reflection of their attention to detail. If they sell junk, it's clear what their motive is - because junk is often really profitable. The higher quality products, like Brembo, Vorsteiner, etc... usually have the lowest margins. But a good company will provide them to you over the alternatives, because they want happy customers - not bottom lines. Having been in this industry for 6 years and dealt with a lot of people on the wholesale level, I've seen my fair share of steady growers (Supreme Power Parts, IND Distribution, etc), and our fair share of "fly-by-nights" that gain everyone's trust and then disappear (Remember Fibreoptix?) Anyways, hope this helps, and hope it doesn't read like a "buy from Jlevi" speech, because it's not Also, isn't NJ a suburb of Chicago? |
