I have the Z54 on two cars. It is absolutely spectacular and you will not regret it. Pads that are over an inch thick take some getting used to!

Someone was selling a full Z31 kit here not long ago for 5k and it was brand new

Good luck with your search!

^ thank you for the feedback and for the link. I did see that z31 kit, just do not want to give up my rotors + that z54 kit sounds like the real deal...designed for the endurance races; meaty pads. Did you do any brake cooling on your cars w/ those BBKs?

I prefer the Z54 kit as well. One car has the Z54/Z45 kit and the other has Z54 and oem rear.
Both run pfc12 pads which work perfectly for street driving as well
The front rotors and pads take around 68h on the track to crack. The rears have had twice as many hours and will probably take 68x4 to be finished

No cooling on either car. This is the real deal. Seemingly infinite repeatability, from the first time to the last you do not feel a difference.

A friend had this kit and was running 2:07 at the glen with a full weight E92 on R1 tires and pfc08 pads. I tried it and bought the first complete set. A friend from Barcelona came for a month to track in the US, tried my car and immediately purchased a set for his track only Z4M with 530hp.
I eventually bought a second front only kit for my second E9X

PFC is not an easy company to work with, do not expect good customer service. Their products however are incredible

They are that good eh!? Appreciate the info, 68hrs for the fronts sounds pretty good, and w/ no cooling. I think I am sold on the z54 kit I understand the calipers were designed with our BMW ABS breaking system in mind.

So far PFC has given top notch customer service, I spoke to Justin multiple times, he even took time to speak w/ me while at VIR for an event. I was surprised Jessica at PFC patched me through to him...very quick to respond

Thnx

PFC is staffed by true professionals. Justin is the sales rep for the PFC 911 Cup Car kit, he knows his stuff

The issue arises when you need goodies, like pads, rotors or God forbid custom colored calipers. I had the bright idea to color match the calipers to my MonteCarlo blue M3...
I keep an entire set of pads and rotors as spares at all times.

They are always responsive, but their operation cannot keep up with the demand

Question for you fellas; what is the major difference between the Z54 kit vs the Z31? Why the preference for the Z54 over the Z31?

Thanks gents!

So I did a little digging as I was considering a PFC kit myself, thought I would share some of the info I got from PFC in regards to the ZR31/ZR31 vs Z54/Z45 kits.

This is from Justin Cockerham of PFC:

"Thanks for reaching out in regards to the ZR31 BBK. The ZR31 is a fantastic caliper and truthfully one of the stiffest calipers on the market. As time progressed we (and the industry) progressed to larger/thicker pads, modular bridges and lighter designs.

The replacement discs from that package would be the most difficult to obtain going forward. We no longer actively make them though there can still be some found through dealers and old inventory on our behalf. The new E92 BBK is the best bang for your buck kit that we offer in my opinion. We developed it in conjunction with Bimmerworld based off our race package we had been running on cars in Grand AM and World Challenge. We tightened up the float in the two piece rotor (which is the only kit we offer in our new V3 two piece design*) so they don’t rattle along with a full array of compounds from street to the track.

The rear package which uses our ZR45 is simply a beast. Largest pad volume you can find on the market with a large disc with great longevity and durability. The front package retails for $3750 and the rear for $3295 through Bimmerworld which actually has the fronts on sale for $500 off which is rare.."

The Z54 kit is the bees knees, light weight and extremely durable. Bimmerworld has the kit on sale, link below...I have spoken to Justin as well, very accessible and knowledgeable guy.

I bought the Z54 kit from Bimmerworld on that sale, and am also hoping for a used rear Z45 kit to pop up before I buy that one new.

Waiting until next year to install them, but looking forward to getting on the track with them.

Don't know if you're still looking but Bimmerworld has one with blue calipers for $2800. Best deal I've seen so far:

Big thanks man. Not only was the kit $2800, it came with a $200 BW gift card. I am now also looking for a Z45.
