Count down (up) to M-DCT Software Upgrade? UPDATE

Talked to service again today and they said OCT/NOV time frame. This SUCKS

This is a thread to see when the first upgrades are made to the M-DCT software to correct the downshift problems. And whether it fixes the problem(s) or not. This upgrade should be the promised mid to late September SP-1 equivalent. For me, at least, this is a make or break point. As interesting as the DCT is on the street, that is not the reason I paid extra for the car with this transmission. These Grandpa track days are not doing my altar ego any good. Please keep this alive until we find out the results of the upgrade.

I don't think there's any such thing coming or rumored to come.

It's only been discussed in virtually every thread about DCT problems and it has been confirmed by BMW. Why would you make such an ignorant statement.

does everyone get this software upgrade or only the people that have exhibited problems?? Because i know some dealers that wouldnt "waste" their time on something that was never a problem.

My 2009 E92 M3 with M DCT was slated to be built in week 39 (next to the last week in September). I found out that it was pushed back to week 40 (last week of September, first week of October). I wonder if that had anything to do with the M DCT software?

There could be a thousand different reasons. I doubt that's it. I have a week 38 build (with DCT) that is still on schedule for completion Sept. 17.
Did you order the iphone integration? That is supposedly pushing production back to October.

I assume there has to be a software update coming. There are too many issues that need to be addressed. Why would they ignore it if they can fix it?

upgrade would be interesting.... need to go to the track and see if I can reproduce the downshift issue. Most other issues I have not been able to duplicate with my tranny

Not trying to be a dick. The title was/is misleading. When I clicked on it I expected to see some sort of announcement about the anticipated software upgrade. But then there was no such announcement, and I was sadfaced.

Besides, have any of the responces in this thread really actually 'helped'? Not so much.

Really, I thought it was all still rumors at this point? Don't get me wrong, I do expect some sort of update at some point, but I have not seen anything official from BMW posted on this forum.

So they're going to tell every DCT owner to come in for a SW update? Don't get me wrong I'd love bug fixes, but who the hell knows when this will happen unless you're the damn SW engineer writing the code.

This was not ment as a bitch thread (although I started bitching)

I only meant this thread to be a place where "Current Owners" of DCT would inform other "Current Owners" when they were able to Get a software update.
This would tell the rest of the "Current Owners" of DCT cars that they could swing by the dealer and get the update. Also if the upgrade worked to fix the problems.

People that have ordered and actually getting a DCT car in 09 or 10 or contemplating or wishing or hoping won't know what the have until they get it.

I am sorry if I misled "non Current Owners" with the title.

I had meant it to be only replied to when an update actually happened

I also have a week 38 build. Mine was completed on 9/12 and the last I checked it was awaiting transport.

I recruit in the automotive industry and spoke with some people over at bmwna and they mentioned engineers are aware of the complaints but at this point no firm upgrades.

I imagine that this will be a voluntary recall type situation. If you don't take your car in when the update becomes available then the dealer will update the software at the next service.

To my knowledge there hasn't been one person who tracked their car with DCT that hasn't reported the problem.
