exhaust tips removal

I have searched, but nothing comes up for our cars.
Can anyone tell me how to remove stock exhaust tips without removing the whole rear section?
I decided to powercoat them in black and install rear diffuser, to hide that ugly muffler.
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

It's not possible, you need to drill through four rivets per tip. Two rivets on the bottom and two on top.

Thank you guys. I did not expect this, i guess i will have to drop the muffler first. Wil i need new rivets to put them back?

Yes you will need new rivets as they are onetime use.

Had mine done for me in the black looks nice ya know, I think they've welded them on though, screw the rivets! Lol

Now i am beginning to think, to avoid all that hassle of removing everything and then putting it back, i might just paint my tips with heat resistent black paint. With tips in place. Is it doable? Has anyone done that?

Dude I would really recommend taking it to auto couture in Nj, it is not that far and they do a sick job!!! You will not leave there dissapointed!

^ +1 on the diffuser ... Our M3 exhaust tips get INSANELY hot and long term, even heat-resistant paint might not hold-up and start to peel ... Better off just switching out to black ones, do it right IMHO

ACM is great. And i mean every single member of their crew is great. They definitely do a top notch work. Highly recommended.
They installed ESS SC and Ohlins coilovers not too long ago on my m3. Dropped a few $$$ for these mods and my wallet is much lighter , thats why i am looking for cheap mods now

Hey David I see you are serious about changing your exhaust tips! Thought I would help out and show you how ACM did my exhaust tips. Apparently they welded them on which seems to be the stronger option if you have the means to do so. I am very happy with the OEM exhaust Mod they set me up with Should I be worried about the rust?

BTW thanks again for a ride in your supercharged M3. I plan on pulling the trigger on an ESS 625 next summer
