How many of you seriously considered the Mercedes C63?

I have about a month to decide and am torn. On one hand I really like the option of the manual gearbox and the handling of the m3. But that engine note and the stealth factor of the C63 has me thinking twice. What do you guys and gals think?

I'm still on the fence between these 2. The C63 sounds amazing, handles more than well enough for street driving and is a ton of fun. It is also about 10k cheaper in Canada than a similarly equipped M3.

The M3 is better balanced and more sophisticated. Its also fun to drive, but I wouldn't be tracking it, so in a way it feels like a waste.

To be honest, it will probably come down to whichever one I can get a better deal on.

I was very seriously considering the C63, it's a great car. In the end, I ordered the M3 Coupe. Here are the main reasons why:

1) Primary reason - no manual. I just have problems with a sporty car and an automatic transmission. Could significantly reduce the fun factor. If you don't currently have a manual, go drive an M3 with a manual.
2) BMW dealers seemed more willing to deal on price.
3) When sitting in the C63, it didn't feel particularly 'special' to me. Just much prefered the M3 interior.
4) Resale value for the C63 will be horrendous
5) I am more compelled by a car that has great handling versus lots of straightline speed and torque. Previous Boxster S owner.
6) Prefer the M3 look. C63 looks like a standard C-class from the back and the front looks a bit boy racer.

Both great cars, I'm not trying to rip on the C63, because I almost bought one. Really can't go wrong either way, just personal preferences.

I never considered the C63. I'm not a fan of MB as a lot of my relatives have MBs and they all have problems with their cars. Plus, I wanted 6MT!

Didn't seriously consider it since no manual or sequential/dual clutch tranny offered. Its a beast of a car and would be a lot of fun, just a very different personality from an M. I also wouldn't call it stealth, IMO the E90 is more stealthy.

liked the C, loved the M. M3 looks better, int is better, and most importantly drives better w/either trans. all the C has going for it is straightline power. everything else goes to the M.

plus, if straight lime power and drag racing is what your looking for, i would easily take the cts-v over the C class.

I owned a C63 before this M3. Loved it, and I miss it to be honest. M3 does not compare powerwise, and the C63 handled very well. However, looks wise the M3 has the upper hand. I get way more compliments on my M3 than I did my C63.

Get the C63. It is an amazing car and you won't regret it. The only reason I drive an M3 is because my C63 turned out to be a lemon and was bought back.

I chose to order the M3 but seriously considered the C63, because of the power advantage and the cheaper price. I wanted a four door sports car so a used Porsche 911 or a GT-R were not options for me.

I found the C63's ride to be a lot rougher over Toronto's patchy, potholed streets, than the M3 and the auto box, while excellent was not good enough to make me want to take it over a 6mt. Additionally at 6 foot 4 and 240 lb I found the side bolsters to be a bit tighter for me vs the M3.

All that being said, I loved the C63, tons of power good steering, best auto-box I've experienced, nice highway ride, but I knew getting out of it that it did not offer an alternative to the M3 for me.

I was waiting for Audi to come out with pricing for the S4 and to get a test drive in one, this seemed like a good option as well (if it came in quite a bit cheaper) but they were too slow, and I ordered my E90 M3 a couple of weeks ago.

I'm considering it and leaning more towards it to be honest. I am, however, looking at used ones since AMG's are indeed notorious for their resale value. Hell, I may even be able to pick up a CLK Black Series soon.

the c63 was my first choice, drove an m3 dct as comparison, preffered the c63. then for fun, i tried the manual m3, and decided on that...weird thought i know.
my main gripe with c63 is aesthetics both in and out, i like neither. the smoked headlights and the nav system and the engine, i like. yes the engine note and amg rear is nice, but i find the m3 much prettier and manual more involving. though, that torque is monstrous. i am a benz fanboy, not a bmw one.
c63 is cheaper too, 70k well loaded, plus a 4k gas tax though...
m3 82k or so, options.
i wanted a coupe, if it was a sedan, it would have been closer, i drove the c63, but never hard. you cant really go wrong, the m3 will be better in the winter in my opinion...unless u get performance pack with lsd on the amg.
looks like a boyracer, i know thats not a good reason, but i couldnt drive it everyday, the gauges in the interior hurt me...and the fact that there are more c classes than blades of grass (i know 3 series too...)

I also prefered the automatic in the C63 compared to the DCT in the M3....But overall I still prefered to have the 6 speed manual offered in the M3 over both automatics.

I was extremely close to getting the C63 AMG. The problem was that the AMG prformance pkg and Carbon fiber trim were must-have's for me, but they hiked the price up about $6,500. And the dealer couldn't do better than $75K out the door for C63 that I wanted.....WOW!

At the end, I ordered my stripped down e90 M3 for $56K out the door. I think I'd be much happier with the M3 in the long run since the driving experience is so brilliant. The C63 is too, but MB simply charges way too much for the options.

I gotta say I was seriously considering it out of spite for BMW. At the time I was thinking (as a E46 owner) that they upped the weight on the M3, flaked on the brake technology, made it softer...lost their way...killed kittens....you've all seen the threads.

The C63 is the best Merc ever. It's a significant step in the right direction. It's fun to drive, the steering is pretty good, and the sound is to die for. Many attributes put the M3 to shame.

But...when I stopped whining, bitching, denying...I found the m3 is better. End of story.

in my opinion, if i were buying automatic, i would buy the amg. if i wanted a manual and could handle spending the extra dough, id go m3.
