I installed my QF Pro Mini harnesses today. Thanks to Victor coming over and helping me through it since he had just completed his.
Everything went according to plan until I tried to buckle the harness to the front seat belt receptacles. My buckles had extra cosmetic plastic flanges on either side that kept the buckle from engaging. I had to snip off the plastic on both sides of the metal buckle to get it to go in far enough to engage. Victor didn't have to do this on his so I am not sure why I had to on mine. Just a slightly different design I guess. As far as fit I echo what Victor reported. I can't get the lap belt exactly tight enough. I run out of adjustment on the left side. There is adjustment remaining on the right side but if I pull that too tight then the entire harness is pulled off center. Also by trying to get the shoulder belts super tight, it pulls the lap belt off my lap and above my navel. So you have to compromise but I sure this will be way better than the standard 3-point belt. Just not as good as a 5 or 6 point harness with a cage, etc. but that is to be expected. I will report more after my track event next week.

I have the QF Pro in my E46 330...same problem with the lock riding up. The regular belts always sat nice and low over my sleek hips. I can't get the same fitment with the pro's because of the way the belts clip into lock. So yeah, it will ride a little higher.

Sabelt Spa is part of Brembo group - one of the worlds premier manufacturers of racing safety equipment. Pretty much every racing series uses their belts. and these are just shoulder pads, i had a set and plan on testing it out with my Schroth harness

Okay never heard of them but good to know. I didn't order shoulder pads but may have to reconsider once I try them out.

Yeah, they have some really nice comfy seats and they are priced right. Probably gonna pick up their tube frame seats.

Might not need the pads if you're using a HANS--the shoulder belts rest on top of the HANS yoke.

just installed mine tonight and little disappointed. i havent gained enough weight yet to make the lap belt tight enough. also seems like if i pull it tight i run out of room on the door side before the console side so if i pull each all the way the cam is off center of my belly button?

In any case unless I can try them out in someone's car I think I will wait until Schroth issues a M3 specific harness. I wonder if Mini owners have experienced the same issues? Perhaps their seats are mounted higher or the attachment points are farther back. |
