Going over 1200 mile breakin during Euro Delivery
Morning!! So I have a dilemma, we are currently in Monaco on our way to France tomorrow with a final destination in Amsterdam. I'm at 925 miles now, by time I hit Amsterdam I will be at 1800. I have been trying to get service appt in France to no avail. My French is average so the concierge is helping me. Most have no idea what this service is (not many M's here) others just won't take my car.
Here is my choice I can try to get an earlier appt in Monaco, or just go over the mileage and get it done when the car returns to the US. I am not even guaranteed yet that I can get the service done here working on that now. I'm leaning on letting it go and just continue to drive it breakin style until it gets home. Suggestions??

I returned my car with 1425 miles on it, and the VPC did the 1200 mile inspection on redelivery.

Alternately drive the car back to Munich, drop-off with 1200+ miles on it, and hop a short flight to AMS.

Get up early on a day or two and put an extra hundred miles or so in - you'll find yourself wanting to do this more and more in the future anyway! Often the car prompts for the break in service before the 1,200 mile mark anyway so I would do it early.

If you haven't done so, post your question to the forum specific to European Delivery.
Many many people on that group have expert, first-hand knowledge of tips and tricks. You might even find a member that resides in France and knows how to make the recommendation for you. - V .

Same here...try to have one BMW dealer at Regensburg to perform the service for us but no luck...end up dropping off the car with ~1800 miles and had the service perform at the dealer before redelivery...I don't think they do that at VPC...

I had the same challenge. My wife and I just showed up at the Dijon BMW dealer first thing on a Monday morning and were lucky enough to get them to perform the service with no appointment. That dealer in Dijon knew all about M's, and had several in the showroom.
As you've likely already discovered, you will have to pay the bill yourself because the maintenance program in North America is unique. In France they have to pay for their maintenance from day one, with several package options available. When you get back to the US you'll have to work thru your dealer to get reimbursed. And you may have the same problem I did, which is the 1200 mile service won't be registered in NA system, but the dealer can fix that too. |

Got the car back today, maybe just mental but it felt a lot smoother. Probably the heavier weight oils.
