Dyno run

Anybody up for a dyno run? Thinking of getting mine re-run at MAC later this week and really need another E9x there on the same day for comparison. I ideally we would both/all run with the same wheels (swap from one car to the next) to get the most consistent results. MAC charges ~$70 for three pulls but I could see if they would do it for a little less. Any takers? Thanks.

When're you thinking? I'd definitely be interested.

Maybe Friday afternoon or early Saturday. You have an 08, right? That would be ideal.

Yep, mine's an 08 too. Think we need to swap wheels if we're both on 19's? Or are you wanting to make sure potential sidewall height differences don't cause any variance in readings? I'm on RE-11s (front: 255/35R-19, rear: 285/35R-19).

Here are my performance mods:
- AA (green) oiled air filter
- Turner pulleys
- Gintani Race exhaust

Saturday morning it will be cooler out... better potential hp readings. You get your x pipe on??

Fewer the mods the better but at least it will be directional. The sale wheel/tire combo will ensure as much consistency car to car (overall diameter and amount of grip/wear.) This actually seems to be the biggest unknown to me and potential weak spot of dynos - the size and composition of the tires. There is nothing that I know of that adjusts for this.

What mods? I will see when they can get us (however many can make it) in on Sat am.

Yeah, I'm not surprised. I bet a lot of guys are base classing for the season. That's where I'd prefer to go. Not just because they're close, but because Nick knows what he's doing on the dyno. Rocky Mountain NASA already had their dyno day there the end of March. We can wait ... Or are you antsy?

Anxious to re-run to see if I can get more than the 300-305whp I produced on the last run...

signes, did MAC give you any indication of when the next open Saturday is?

May's starting to tighten up on my schedule. I'm in Vegas the first weekend (where I'll be driving a Ferrari 458 and McLaren MP4-12C at Exotics Racing!!), comp school with BMW CCA the third weekend and with NASA at HPR the last weekend. Do they have any time on the 12th?

I was able to book two slots on Saturday the 12th at 3:30pm. Let me know who is serious (I am taking one but one up for grabs.) ~$75 for 3 pulls. If there is more confirmed/serious interest I can see if I can get another slot.

Also, random question what's the expected hp difference due to elevation compared to sea level?

I'd be interested to learn this for the S65. My E36 seems to be down about 15ish% from what people report from sea level.

Given that we have >1000 feet of variance around the greater metro area (not counting passes), it's going to be different depending upon where one is driving.

General rule of thumb I have seen is 3% per 1000ft of elevation, although there are many factors that impact this.

so that plus around 10 - 15% drivetrain loss = a crappy dyno run... i am estimating between 290 and 310 at the wheels.

It could be lower than that, just focus on the adjusted numbers that account for atmospheric differences.
